I wish to know what is the difference between the versions X86, X64 and IA64. I have downloaded SQL Server 2005 X86 executable and require ASP.NET 2.0 for Reporting Services.
Thanks

That is a great question.
There is a great explanation for these architectures (processor types) on wikipedia:
X86:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86
X64: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X64
IA64: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IA64

Yeah I tried their first, but X64 and IA64 now lead to the same page. I was looking for a simpler explanation without having to read a gigantic article. -
