As we don't know what you've tried before, I can only offer suggestions that might work.
What is the error message you see when the install fails?
If the failure occurs when the KB is offered through Windows Update, you can try installing the KB manually.
You can download the KB here:
and try installing it manually.

Hi Mik,
Welcome to the MSDN forum.
Can you install it manually? You also can download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3556
Based on your environment, please choose the correct one.
If it failed, please use this tool to collect the fresh logs.
- Download and run the Log Collection Tool: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en
- Upload the vslogs.cab file located in %temp% folder to an open website like Windows Live SkyDrive or send it to me (E-mail: v-alsun_at_microsoft_dot_com).
Note: Please attach the link of this post in the mail.
If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

I am having the same problem installing this update manually. I am running Windows 7 SP1 on an AMD 64-bit quad CPU machine. After I download either NDP40-KB2468871-v2-x64.exe or NDP40-KB2468871-v2-IA64.exe and click on the .exe file, it extracts files and then I get the following error message:
"KB2468871v2 does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer."
What is causing this and what should I do?

FYI, the problem is fixed now. What I did was very simple. I just went into Control Panel "Uninstall a program" and clicked on "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile", and selected "Repair .NET Framework 4 Client Profile to its original state". This apparently re-installs .NET Framework 4.
Prior to this, I ran the .NET Framework verification tool, which reported no problems with my .NET Framework setup. However, when I looked at one of the log files this program produced, there were several warnings about files not being installed. Running the Control Panel repair wizard fixed everything. There were 5 other updates to .NET Framework 4 besides the KB2468871 patch. All of these installed successfully without any problems, once the original state of my .NET Framework 4 was restored.
Some people have suggested that you clean out your %temp% folder of previous KB updates before running the repair wizard, and in addition disable your anti-virus program beforehand. I did neither of these, and the repair worked just fine.

Hi Alexander.
I am facing the same issue. I tried installing it manually but I get the msg "KB2468871v2 does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer."...I also uninstalled .NET FRAMEWORK CLIENT based on another thread, but that did not work either. I just cant seem to install a few updates and now it is getting frustrating.
I did not quite understand the log bit u mentioned in ur post.
Please help if possible.
Thanks
Arpit

Did you repair or reinstall .NET Framework 4.0 after uninstalling it?
If so, please use this verification tool to confirm proper installation:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx
Look at the last ~15 lines of tool output. Did the test app succeed?
