After going to the above link, i ran the cleanup tool as advised, and then tried reinstalling the .net framework 2.0 and it installed with no problems at all. I didnt have to do a bunch of manual edits to the registry and files, this pretty much did it all for me. I was a lil bit skeptical at first , but i figured its worth a try and i couldnt be happier with the results.
