Application with GPS Requirement not Showing in Marketplace
- I have an application with the GPS requirement checked, published in the US catalog. It has the GPS requirement and I cannot find it in the Marketplace. Can you please verify? Product ID is 4b781d35-1a79-4380-a16f-4bf1841f475a .
I was reading previous posting regarding the Marketplace failing to identify the GPS requirement properly, but found no resolution. There are also phones connected with external GPS devices using bluetooth and if this link is active you would like that Marketplace will identify this, so your market will not be limited to a couple of devices for which the GPS may be detected properly.
If this is still a bug I hope it can be fixed soon as I already submitted the product for different markets and devices and this cut from the available credits and have to pay the market certification fee.
If it cannot be fixed as this is known issue, is there any chance to have the GPS requirement waived for my application, in order to show in Marketplace? Resubmitting the product without the GPS requirement will cost credits and not to mention a waiting time to be recertified of about 2 weeks.
Please let me know.
Thank you.

- Hello MihaelaH,
Some devices will have issue with reporting the capability to the Marketplace service. However, we've made some recent improvements to the client to help bridge this gap. Most devices should be fine now. Please let me know the specific devices you are using that continue to have this issue so we can focus in on those.
Thanks

- Am easy way would be to allow unchecking the GPS feature check box after the product is published in catalog using the edit product feature. This is not allowed at this moment. Since it is a known bug, I do not see why this would not be allowed until the issue is fixed. You could also deactivate all the GPS flags of the submitted apps until the fix will come.
It makes no sense to use credits to resubmit the products and wait other couple of weeks to be validated. It creates a bad feeling through the developers community that there is no easy solution offered to this. - Realize the company doing the work is in India, and their time is different. From experience, India runs about 3 to 6 months behind real time. MS doesn't want you to know this by the way.
- I did not know that. So, is the WM Marketplace product developed and supported in India?
- Product? It's like any other outsourced job. All the site work and backend is done there. Those you see here are the middlemen, who compile the problems and tell the boys in India what needs to be done. This does not work smoothly, as anyone can see. It saves a lot of moolah but gets on the nerves of all so the trade-off is not worth it. Pencil pushers and bean counters rule the roost. Too bad.
