General DiscussionAny demand in Ireland?

My app is on 6 English markets. All have nonzero download counts, except for Ireland. Does anyone else have anything on the en-IE market? How does it fare, compared to others?

I'm wondering if there's indeed zero demand, or the Marketplace is to blame.

EDIT: the app does appear when the locale is set to Ireland.

Weve had exactly zero downloads in Ireland as well, from 3 different apps.

Part of the problem is Ireland is only a total of 4.5million people.... and they probably dont have any WM6.5 devices there yet. Not at all clear who is/will be distributing devices there either. But as an experiment....

Can I ask if you have India + New Zealand + Singapore as English markets + if they have any downloads either - ours are stuck at zero for those English territories as well.

We image NZ has the same problem as Ireland - very low population + not at all clear who is distributiong phones there currently.

Am guessing that India + Singapore have yet to get devices in any meaningful quantities. Certainly we know Singapore will be getting several WM 6.5 devices via some Operators in the region around Dec/Jan.

I have Singapore, and I get a steady trickle of downloads from there. Roughly half of my en-GB market. But the app is uniquely fit for the East Asia - it's a Japanese character dictionary.

I don't have anything in neither India nor NZ.

I don't think the Marketplace has wide availability here in the USA yet. Unless you count those that have saught out and installed the Marketplace cab the only people that have access would be those with WM6.5 on thir phones; which would be those that purchased specific phones after the release date for WM6.5.

We have 4 nation wide carriers. My carrier (T-mobile, the smallest of the nation wide carriers) doesn't have any WM6.5 phones yet through either new purchases or firmware updates.   AT&T (Nation's second largest carrier) released their versions of the Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2 with WM6.5 a couple of weeks after the WM6.5 launch date.  They just made a firmware update available for another AT&T phone today.  Verizon (Nation's largest carrier) has the HTC Imagio and Sprint (third largest carrier) has the Samsung Intrepid.  That makes a total of five phone models with WM6.5 availability.

All four carriers have the Touch Pro 2 but there's not yet been an announcement of when they will make the WM6.5 firmware available for them (as mentioned above AT&T released their Touch Pro 2 with WM6.5).

It takes all the running you can do to stay in one place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must try to run at least twice as fast as that.

Even considering the submission pains, the Marketplace was worth the effort for me. Wide availability or not, I get a healthy download count from the US market - at least a 4-fold increase compared to before.

Got 1 (one) Irish download yesterday. I guess there is no demand over there. Either that, or next to no 6.5 devices in the wild. Oh well.

A way to see the target market is to look at the phones available by country. You can select the country and see if WM6.5 devices are available and how many types.

US (you can select other countries from a drop-down list):

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/devices/devices.mspx

When you select Ireland you do not see any WM6.5 devices available, but there may be some upgrades available for 6.1 devices anyway. You can make an idea on how large your target market would be. Regarding the English speaking markets, you may bet on US, UK and Australia. Canada-EN does not list any WM6.5 either. IN-EN even if it lists devices, the activity on it appears to be very low. Market appears to be still very small and at the begining.
Hopefully it will expand by next year.
