Hi,

this question relates to using the Microsoft Translator Web Service (SOAP) API in a .NET application.

The application may perform a lot (possibly hundreds) of small translations in quick succession. In some cases, it aborts with:
Exception = System.Net.WebException
Description = The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable.

Could this be the result of performing many requests in quick succession?

If so, is there a way to prevent it?

What is the best way to handle it?

By the way, my application is the Multi-Language Add-In for Visual Studio .NET. This is an Add-In to aid localization of .NET projects. I am using the Microsoft Translator to translate the texts in an application.

Hi, Everyone

I'm writing a vb6 program, and I need to Integrate the translator feature of Bing into my code.

I've searched the web and can't find anything about Integrating Bing Translator into VB6.

So, here is my questions:

Does this API support VB6, or is there any alternative way to use Bing Translator in VB6 without an AppID, for example, using Microsoft.XMLHTTP?

Any answer is appreciated.

Hi.

There is a problem when SOAP API is called from the Net program.

It becomes an error when translating from Japanese to French etc. though English can be translated with Japanese.
It is possible to translate from English to French etc.

The access means is SOAP.

For more information about the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on tracing as per the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SDK documentation and inspect the server trace logs.

Why do it become an error?

MS Translation SOAP Interface Has Transaction Limits?

I am using the Translator SOAP interface and it is working quite well....right up until it quits with the error message "The HTTP service located at http://api.microsofttranslator.com/V1/Soap.svc is too busy."

It seems to always error out like this after some number (100+ ?) of translations have successfully completed.

Am I doing something incorrectly, does the service have volume/transaction count limits, or.....?

Any suggestions (please and thank you)? Great service just before it quits!

Ajax interface supports 'translate="no"' element, is like functionality available for SOAP?

http://sdk.microsofttranslator.com/AJAX/AJAXDemo3.aspx reveals that 'translate="no"' can be used to direct the Microsoft Translation engine not to translate text to follow. Is this AJAX functionality available via the SOAP interface? Can the txtInput.Text parameter of the Translate method be modified to serve the same purpose?

Translator widget only takes one site address?

Visitors access our site with either address; http://www.sonomacountyna.org OR http://sonomacountyna.org . It appears that only one site address can be registered for each instance of the widget. Is there a workaround so that both versions of our address can be registered for a single instance of the widget?

Tonite (6/16/09), we are getting an error message in our translator widget: "The Microsoft® Translator widget is not registered to this site, click here to learn more." We have been in the beta since a few weeks after release, and have had no problems with it until now. I don't want to just madly start replacing code etc. until I find out what I should be doing. Were there changes because of Bing that I need to be aware of?

Hey guys! I just install the translator on my site and it's awesome! Thank you.

But is there a way to translate all the pages of my site? As of now only the main page is translated.

When I click on another page in my site it goes back to English. Is there a way to fix that or that's the way it is? My site is on a Ning network. Thank you for all you do!

Hello everyone

I’m asking this question here for my friend Japanese MVP.

He has his own site which is using the Shift-JIS, and he created HTML to implement the widget.

When he open his site with

- IE6 or IE 7, then every time a Scripting error appears.

- IE8, then no scripting error but, some time he gets the error "The Microsoft Translator widget is not registered to this site” error.

Does the Translator API run on the Shift-JIS HTML page with IE6 or IE7?

I may want to translate English text to informal or formal German, thus the use of Du instead of Sie would be used, or the use of Tu instead of Vous in French. This would be a great feature.

Please devise the method of taking the screen capture together when the translation becomes 100%.

"translator" was found when having looked for the method of translating a Japanese blog article into French. Because an enough result had not been obtained, "translator" was adopted though other translation engines were tried secondarily and thirdly.

I see ..not obtaining.. though there was correspondence procedures such as HTTP and SOAP in translation API. an appropriate translation result occur if tag and Japanese translate by the correspondence procedure of these the character string that exists together the error and the garble

If it was this method, the positive proof that a Japanese blog article that was contained tag was able to be translated into French was obtained because the appearance in which the translation processing was done to the character string on the displayed page was able to be perceived when the Ajax version was tested.

My problem is not only a translation. It is necessary to preserve the screen capture after it translates in the server. URL of the blog article that becomes an object is the one dynamically passed from the outside.

The procedure is as follows.
･Blog article URL that translates into French is specified from the outside with HTTP.
･URL specified for FireFox that always starts by the server is displayed.
･The displayed page is translated into French.
･The screen capture after it translates is preserved in the server.

It turned out that a lot of screen capture under the translation was preserved in the server though this procedure was able to be achieved technically.

Must there be no something good method though it wants to take the capture of the screen translated 100%?

The signal from a browser cannot be received as Ajax ended normally because it is a technique of taking the screen capture of FireFox that always starts in the server.

It is a sense where man is sitting in front of the screen of the server, and URL is input, the printscreen button will be pushed in ten seconds, and capture is preserved if it compares it. (This man is not confirming whether the translation ended. )

It is thought that % display of the translation displayed on the left can be used well.

I'm using MT SOAP API in my server side application.

Last days it fails almost always. Here're are request and response from server:

I tried the widget and its quite fast and one doesn't move away from the page. I am looking forward to put it on my blog, at present I'm using the Translator with Live translator, older one.

Also improve the UI for this one, put better looking buttons for 'translate this page' 'Get' and 'Share'.
Also in future please also consider various Indian languages translation.

Sometimes the translated web page doesn't get saved properly in .mht format.

I think this can't be put on Spaces as it does not support javascript ?

Changing the widget size

I love the translator...it works great! However, I am using it on a Ning site, and the widget, even at it's smallest size, is too big for the only spot we can put it in. The size of the text box is 170px, and the smallest translator size is 200px. We are using scroll bars, but that poses a difficulty in explaining to non-English speakers that they have to scroll....not to mention the fact that for some reason, the scroll bars are not showing up for everyone, especially those using IE. Any suggestions?

Why, when I type in a known Russian sentence to have it translated into English, does the translation appear in the same language as I typed? Auto-Detect confirms that what I typed is Russian but doesn't translate it into English, instead simply shows the same text I typed?

It is strange that when we use the widget and put it on a localized webpage, it works fine for example if a Spanish viewer is wanting to translate a page from English into Espanol. But should we have same page in Spanish, and an English viewer wants to try to see Spanish translated into English, it is not in the Pulldown list. Can you check this oversight?

It is making the translator widget unusable compared to the Google Widget (Any Language) pulldown of language pairs - English being of primary concern and we notice that Spanish is not included in pulldown either. But every other language is available... So we have to hardcode the from path to ES... when we call up the widget.

Service Is Down?

OK, so the service seems to be down right now. I am getting a JS error. Since I just went to Vikram's blog and noticed his isn't working either, I deduce that the service is down.

Now on to the question. Is there a web page I can check for service health? Even just a thumbs up or thumbs down that tells me it's the service that is down and not necessary some conflicting code on my page?

Translator Widget

Hi, What's going the Translator Widget doesn't respond and stuck at sending "request to api.microsofttranslator.com". Its' happening regularly, and for the past 12+ hrs it is simply not responding, and ending with RTO (requests time out) error, when I ping "api.microsoftranslator.com" and its IP "65.55.177.205". Right now, I've disabled the Widget, because the entire site become non-responsive.

I thinks, its right time to add something new to the Widge code:

1. Either add some alternate working IPs

2. or add check to bypass the request, when the Widget server is down.

So the sites running Widget continue working.
