Formatting issue

Question

It has a serious issue with formatting of the text, especially newline charector.
Any thoughts?

Vikram,

Sorry for delayed update,

It messes up special charectors, symbold, tabular layouts (e.g, if delimited file was saved as text, when you translate, the tabular layouut in the output would be messed up.)

Hi,

I can't answer for Hitesh, but I am seeing a similiar problem in that when I send the following text to be translated over the SOAP interface the result is different to when I perform the same translation through the www.microsofttranslator.com website. The problem seems to relate to the stripping of new line characters on the SOAP interface.

Hi Albert,

This is the first line of a test translation paragraph.

This is the second line of a test translation paragraph, except this line has a comma in it.

This is the third line of a test translation paragraph.

You'll notice that the first line of the 2 translations are different. I had expected the 2 translations to be exactly the same.

The 2 possible causes I can think of at this stage are

1. I am doing something wrong that is causing the new line characters after the comma to be ignored, thereby changing the meaning of the sentence. This is presumably something that the www.microsofttranslator.com website is doing correctly.

2. This is a bug with or known difference in behaviour between the SOAP interface and website.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. With the AJAX interface:

- carriage return are sometime deleted

- some spaces also

But not on http://www.microsofttranslator.com/

It seems that the API tries to reformat in a good way, taking into account the punctuation.

Is there a way to indicate the API to respect the formatting (spaces, carriage return)?
