Access Windows Live Space Photo by Live Framework SDK?
Hi
Dear all
I have survied to find out how to aceess my photos on the windows live space.
There was a Windows live photo API CTP , but it seems to be deprecated.
It seems that there is no official api (except RSS feed)to access photos in windows live space.
So I switch to Live Framework SDK, try to figure out if this one can help to access my data such as
photo,blogs in windows live space.
As my understanding, the live framework sdk seems possible to access data in live mesh but imposssbile to access data in windows live space.
The data in windows live space and in live mesh were not connected and different.
Am I right? Do I miss something?
Please show me some directions to access (include download/upload) my photo in Windows live space.
Or just tell me there is no way to do this.
Thanks for a thousand times.
Regards

- Hi John, you are correct. The only way to programmatically access photos in your Windows Live Space was to use the photo API CTP which is now deprecated. We did receive a great deal of feedback and learning around that API and what customers want in order to make future plans. Currently, though there is no way to access the photos programmatically other than the RSS feeds that you mentioned. We do continue to review what offerings are available and want feedback from the community to help prioritize them. Feel free to submit a suggestion on the Connect site regarding accessing the photos via the Live Framework and describe the scenario you are trying to implement.
Thanks!

- John, and of course all readers,
Ben's response could have made it seem that there is no plan to have an API to access those Photos. I'd don't believe that was his intent. I strongly believe that this sort of API will return in a better form. The problem is creating a design that can run sustainably considering operations, backwards compatibility, API style (AtomPub) adoption, and so on. Maybe you should both Angus?

TedHoward - Yes Ted, thanks for clarifying that!

This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. - But doesn't windows live photo gallery allow uploading to spaces. Why isn't there parity here? Why not just document whatever protocol windows live photo gallery uses? Btw I wrote a photo uploading application not knowing the api would be removed shortly after and have his app would stop working! Really annoys a dev.
- Of course if/when a new photo API comes along there will likely be some hesitation from developers such as myself who put considerable expense into developing for the old API just to have all that work thrown out the window. While competitors already have solid APIs in place and are streamlining those and working with developers to improve them we have Microsoft back at the drawing board, falling behind and alienating developers and losing market share in the online space.
- Any news on this API?
I would really like to integrate Live Photo into my website.
Kind Regards,
Ramses
