QuestionIE 7 hangs "waiting for http://...."

This is a puzzle.  IE7 hangs when attempting to open any page.  The "connecting" spinner just goes and goes; even when I provide a fully resolved IP address for the target WEB address.  At the same time Netscape and Firefox are happy and are working as expected.  The problem may or may not be related to the installation of
Visual C# 2005 express edition.  It's Web Browser Control seems to have the same connection issues.

I'm running on a Wi-Fi connection under XP's Media Center Edition.   I've tried disabling the firewall, spyware, and any other possible restrictions I can think of, but still no joy in Mudville.   Any suggestions on what to try next.?

I am having the same exact problem... only on certain websites and it seems to happen about 1 out of ever 7 attempts to load that website... it will just sit there with "Waiting for http://..." forever.  I don't understand it and I too have attempted to remove every possible restriction.  And this site used to work just fine for me... I know other people can access the site just fine using the same browser.  Do I need to upgrade IE7?  What is the fix for this?  Thanks!

I also have this problem using wireless, I found that if I go to a modem/dial-up connection, I can access websites again. I noticed this happening 02/14/08. This is not a cure just information

I too have the same problem and am using a normal modem through xp sp2. It will work fine in safe mode, but when not in safe mode after initially loading google will not go anywhere. This has been since I downloaded IE7 and I have even tried going back to 6 but was unable to. I also tried resetting my settings, disabling the firewall and checking for viruses, none have given me any progress. I would be hugely gratefull for any tips.
