QuestionIE8 issue with Sharepoint DataSheet View Checkboxes

    Hi,

We have a sharepoint 2007 Site with sharepoint lists. We created DataSheet views for the sharepoint lists. The Datasheet view has checkboxes and textfields.
Sharepoint DataSheet Behavior on IE6 and IE7:

We are able to access the Datasheet view and check/uncheck the checkboxes with mouse.

Sharepoint DataSheet Behavior on IE8 Beta and IE8 RTM:

We are not able to check/uncheck the checkboxes with mouse. Is it a bug/Known issue in the IE8 release.
I am not able to find anything on this Microsoft mentioning this as a known Issue/Bug in some release notes.

Did anyone facing the same issue?
How could this issue be resolved with IE8? Can anyone provide some links on this if it is a known issue in IE8.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

Interesting... outside of sharepoint checkboxes certainly work in IE8 so I think sharepoint is guilty (maybe the are changing the state on click... which reverts whatever the user does?)

I do know that if your site renders in standards mode on any site if the user checks the checkboxes the form will submit fine but the checkboxes won't print the way they appear on the screen. (a bug has been filed with Microsoft)

Not that it's much help to you, but I'm seeing the same issue, so you're not alone! The interesting part is that we have a form view to add new items to our list on SharePoint and there is a checkbox there that works fine, it's only in the grid view that is the culprit.

My sharepoint site is unusable since i "upgraded" to IE8.  I cannot use the edit or checkout mode on documents, and tryin to use the datasheet view gives me the error

"The Standard View of your list is being displayed because your browser does not support running ActiveX controls."

Is there any correction for this bug in IE8?  Is there a way to revert to IE7?

The problem was solved partially in my netowrk :

    1. On Workstations with Office 2007 installed : I updated Office 2007 SP2 -> problem solved
    2. On Workstations with Office 2003 installed : after all upadtes -> problem not solved

It strange but I guess MOSS and IE are working on local Office installation.

    Good Luck,

Is your MOSS on SP2 as well?  I think that's the key.

Does anyone know if WSS3 SP2 has full IE8 support too?  This KB doesn't exactly make that clear. We use only WSS3.

Hello, did anyone found a solution.

WSS 3.0 + IE8 + Office 2003 doesn't work for me, the checkboxes are unavailable in a datasheet view.

    Thanks

SP2 for WSS is the key.

We were already running wss sp2 but Office 2007 SP2 fixed it for me.

    Hi all,

we have the same problem, you can use the spacebar to tick such a checkbox.

    Hi all,

Thanks for let me know that the mix WSS 3.0 + IE8 + Office 2003 is the problem.

I was fighting with this issue (checkboxes unavailable in a datasheet view) for some weeks now.

And thanks to Christophe for giving a useful work around!

I’ve just noticed that links in Lookup fields also stopped working in Datasheet views with Office 2003 and IE8.

Does anyone experience the same issue?
