Answered IE8: Remembers Passport Accounts Although I Have Deleted Everything - Why?

Although I have deleted any information possible by using the <Tools>-<Internet Options>-<Delete> dialog, Hotmail provides all my Passport accounts to me when I open the Hotmail website.

This frightens me and it's making me anxious... Why does IE8 remember my Passport accounts although I have disabled any kind of local storage in Internet Options? And why doesn't the Delete dialog delete this unwanted list of Passport accounts?

I got to know from Windows Client MVP Ramesh Kumar that this could be because of the Windows Live Sign-in Helper.  I guess the Sign-in Helper used to be called Windows Live Sign-in Assistant earlier & it's purpose is to manage multiple Windows Live ID accounts - http://winliveid.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!AEE1BB0D86E23AAC!222.entry

I disabled the Windows Live Sign-in Helper Add-on (which is enabled by default - look under Tools > Manage Add-ons) & now whenever I click on the Delete button in Browser History of Internet Options, the user name goes away.

    Try this:

Tools > Internet Options > click the Content Tab > Click on AutoComplete Settings > Click on Delete AutoComplete history.. >  Check the 'Passwords' And 'Preserve Favourites Website Data' or whatever else you want to delete > Click Delete.

Hopefully the issue should be resolved.

Thanks a lot, Anil! That did the trick.

@Suprotim: I don't have "AutoComplete" activated for forms or passwords.
