Driving directions are temporarily unavailable. Please try again

    Question

  • Hi,

I have a web project and a Bing Map in a page,

I can add waiypoints and draw routes between these waypoints. But sometimes I cannot draw routes and get this error, "Driving directions are temporarily unavailable. Please try again" How can I block this error?

    Thanks.

  • Basic keys are rate limited when they make a lot of requests. Rate limiting will result in some requests returning no information or in your case cause the directions module to say that the it can't calculate driving directions temporarily. The goal of rate limiting is to ensure that basic keys do not exceed the free terms of use. This is based on a frequency and not a total number of requests. If the frequency of requests is high then your empty responses are returned at a rate such that only the a certain number of requests go through to bring your frequency back to an acceptable level. This frequency limit changes depending on the load on the system. At peak times it's possible that the frequency limit is lowered in order to give Enterprise (licensed users) priority to the service.

  • Are you using a Basic or Enterprise key? It's possible that if you are using an basic key that your account is being rate limited.

Can you provide some more details such as a link to your page or if consistent end waypoints fail, what are they.

  • I'm using basic key, but this error does not appear in all routes, When I load page after this error, no error occurs.
