    Question

  • Hi,

          We developed an application using VB 2008 express edition and built it into exe file... We are putting them in some other systems and they are working fine.... I have two problems..

    One is that the application that we installed in other systems are working fine for some days and suddenly throws the error code 0Xc000007b"Application Failed to initialize properly.Click OK to terminate the application.

    Second is in some systems as soon as we install it and try to run it , it is throwing the same error mentioned above.

    Any ideas abt this??/

  • Are some of the systems 64 bit and other 32 bit?  Was the app developed as 32 bit or 64 bit?

  • Is there something special to your application which makes that you get this error and millions of others don't?

  • Hi Anantha,

    Welcome to the MSDN Forum.

    Would you like to give more information about your issue?

    For example, what the scenario is when the issue occurs? For example, when the application read a folder, the error occurs, or when the user click the button, the error occurs. We need more such information to diagnose the root cause.

    Here is the specific error message, it may give you some ideas: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms681382(v=vs.85).aspx

    ERROR_INVALID_LEVEL
    124 (0x7C)

    The system call level is not correct.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Mike,

                    We have 4 exe's built from VB 2008 Express edition. The first exe calls the other and so on. The same error "0Xc000007b"Application Failed to initialize properly.Click OK to terminate the application" is given in two scenarios.

    1)We are having a welcome screen and from there it navigates to login screen. Sometimes error occurs when we click on the login button in the welcome screen.

    2)As soon as we try to execute the welcome screen, we get that error message..

  • Hi AnanTha,

    What is the result when you debug them? What is the error line? And the internal error message?

    If you would like to provide about information about your application, it would be better to us to find the root cause.

    Best regards,

    2)As soon as we try to execute the welcome screen, we get that error message..

    Than show us the code which is in the click event of the welcome screen.

    you can use this button for that  if your message is in edit mode.

    Be aware only the code in the click event, not the whole program.

    (probably less than 20 lines)

  • Hi Cor,

             The code is simply a call to another exe file..

    Dim ret as object

    ret=shell("C:\Program Files\Program_bundle\mui\mlogin.exe",vbNormalFocus)

    me.close()

        This is the code inside the button click event.

    Also we are getting that error when we are trying to open the first exe itself(by double-clicking on it)

    Error:Application failed to initialize properly(Code:0Xc000007b).Click OK to terminate the application

  • Seems the most to a normal error you get if another program violates security. If that is the case then there is not much to do about it in which a Microsoft forum can help you.
