Silverlight not working with Netflix

    Question

  • I just signed up for Netflix on my Mac Pro. When I chose the episode that I wanted to watch, it asked me to first install the Microsoft Silverlight. I followed the installation instructions and it seemed to be okay. When it returned me to the Netflix page and began loading the episode video, another window popped up, saying that there has been an error with he silverlight installation. It said it was error # 2103, and that the usual fix for this problem would be to uninstall the silverlight and then reinstall it again. I again followed the instructions to do so, and once again it seemed as if it were okay. When I tried to watch the episode again, the same pop up appeared saying that the silverlight installation had an error #2103. I did the fix-it instructions for error #2103 at least three more times, but nothing has started working. Can someone please help!!!

  • Hi,

Resolving the error, there are three available methods below:

METHOD 1: Deactivate your Netflix ready Device.

    1. Open a browser, login to your Netflix account and then look for the option of “Your Account and Help”.

    2. Once inside your account information page look for “Manage Netflix ready devices and computers”.
    3. Depending on the device you activated, choose the one where you are having this error and then click “Deactivate”.

    4. Log-off your account and then close the browser.
    5. Open your browser or Media Center and try to play your movie again.

    METHOD 2: Reinstall Microsoft Silverlight.

    1. Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Silverlight.
    2. To remove Microsoft Silverlight, go to:
            a. Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features, in Windows Vista or 7.
            b. Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs, in XP.
    3. Locate and uninstall Microsoft Silverlight.
    4. To reinstall Microsoft Silverlight you may either “Check for Updates” using Windows Updates using this link: http://www.update.microsoft.com or go to this link to check and get the latest version: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    5. Once Microsoft Silverlight is installed retry your movie.

METHOD 3: Reinstall Netflix in Media Center.

    1. Uninstall and reinstall Netflix in Media Center.
    2. To remove Netflix in Media Center, go to:
            a. Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features, in Windows Vista or 7.
            b. Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs, in XP.
    3.  Locate and uninstall “Netflix in Media Center”.
    4. To reinstall “Netflix in Media Center” we need to run Media Center’s Update:
            a. Exit all instances of Windows Media Center.
            b. Open an administrator Command Prompt. To do this, click Start.

    c. Click All Programs, click Accessories.

    d. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click “Run as administrator”.

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the administrator password or provide confirmation.
