  • Hi Parag,

SharePoint 2013 has many improved features, one of them is workflow engine, the new workflow platform, dubbed ‘workflow manager’, brings with it many new enterprise class capabilities, like: high density and multi-tenancy, instance management, fully declarative authoring, you can refer to following article to better understand this:

For k2 workflow comparing with SharePoint, I know little about k2 workflow, the following discussion seems contains related information:

  • Hi Parag, thank you for your question.

It all comes down to what you need to get done in SharePoint, if your requirements are simple approval routing of items and document within SharePoint and you are ok with a limited set of users in the organization designing those workflows using desktop tools then I would say what you get from SharePoint should be sufficient.  Now if you want to take that same workflow and:

    - extend the workflow beyond the basic List and document based actions available in SharePoint Designer
    - extend the workflow beyond the boundaries of the site the workflow is created in
    - extend the forms by adding additional form logic and/or related information from SharePoint or other line of business systems
    - create and extend these forms directly in the browser
    - access these forms from outside of SharePoint
    - empower more people in the organization with browser based tooling to create business apps inclusive of workflow, forms, data and reports

We have a great story for you and would like to show you what K2 has to offer. This is by no means an extensive list just a couple of things to think about. Our regional K2 contact details are available on http://www.k2.com/global-contacts

    Talk to you soon.
