Configuring Sql Server 2008R2 for encrypted connections

    Question

  • I have followed the recommended steps at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191192.aspx in order to configure my certificate and for Sql Server to accept encrypted connections.  The step using Sql Server Configuration Manager to configure the server to accept the connections isn't working.  When right clicking Protocols and selecting properties, on the Certificate tab no Certificates appear in the dropdown.  Why are the certificates not appearing?  permissions (i am logged on with the service account for Sql Server so permissions should not be an issue).  How do I determine what certificate store Sql Server configuration Manager is looking in to find the certificates? I provisioned (installed) the certificates to MSSQLSERVER\Personal but for some reason SS Configuration Manager can't find the certificate.  Any help would be appreciated.
