SharePoint Workspace CSI Error 123

    Question

  • When syncing an online workspace to SharePoint Workspace, it says "Errors were encountered while synchronizing...".  Document folders will not syncronize, but all the other content types works properly.  Under Resolve-> More Info it says "An unknown error occured while attempting to synchronize this tool.  CSI error 123."  I Repaired my Office 2010 install, but nothing changed.  All the other computers on the network are synchronizing properly.  I just reinstalled Win 7 Pro and Office 2010 on this computer

  • Can you explain what you did to clear the error?  I don't understand your original reply. Calling "groove.exe /clean /all" solved the problem for me.

  • One of my users have the same error message too. It started as the SP Workspace crashes on startup each time we tried to use it. Therefore, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the SP Workspace and solved the crashed issue. The error CSI 123 occurred when we sync the document library from SharePoint site. The library is able to sync but synced completed with error. Nothing happen when try to use the Resolve error option in the SP Workspace.

Is there any other ways to solve the error except reformat computer?

  • Calling "groove.exe /clean /all" solved the problem for me.

This worked for me as well, however, it also zapped my entire local copy of all my SharePoint workspace. I talso required that I reinitialize SharePoint Workspace from a Groove Account. Fortunately, I had recently backed up my account (to a .grv file, saved on the PC in question), so I was able to get everything back. So, lessons learned:

    • Make a backup of your account first (to a .grv file, available to the PC where you're fixing your SharePoint Workspace)
    • Be prepared to wait for the re-download from zero of all your Workspaces. Remember, some of the data may downloadable only from the PC of another person who has the Workspace (i.e. their PC must be logged into SP Worksapce and available on the network).
