    Question

  • Is there anyway to remove the password (logon without password) or automatically logon (remember password)?

Answers

  • From an elevated command prompt, type:

    control userpasswords2

This will open a dialog box, uncheck the box for 'User must enter...'

You will be prompted to enter your password and then enter it again to confirm.

NOTE: If you lock the screen, you will be required to enter a password

  • An elevated program is, I am citing Microsoft Glossary, is "a program that is run in a privileged administrator security context that allows actions that would normally be restricted. Without elevation, programs in Windows Client and Windows Server run in a restricted state."

To run a command prompt elevated:

    1. Press WindowsKey.

    2. Press WindowsKey+C and type cmd

    3. Hold Ctrl+Shift when clicking on the command prompt executable.

    4. Answer Yes to the User Account Control prompt.
