  • Hi, the exit message is not very clear, but is telling you that the drive/directory in which you're trying to install the service pack is compressed with NTFS compression and/or encryption, which is not supported when running service packs.  To work around this, go to the install directory, Microsoft SQL Server, right-click, view properties, click on Advanced.  Here you'll see “Compress contents to save disk space” and “Encrypt contents to secure data”.  Uncheck these and rerun the installer.

Exit message:                  Attributes do not match. Present attributes (Directory, Compressed) , included attributes (0), excluded attributes (Compressed, Encrypted).

  • Have you checked the database settings for the new database default path and confirm the directory if that exist?

For this right click Instance --> proporties--> Database settings--> confirm the mentioned path if exist or not

Else please provide detail.txt (placed on same location) for detailed error.
