  • Hi,

It seems that your application pool is not running. Make sure that the application pool is running and the account has log on as a service and log on as a batch job in your Local Security Policy!

  • Hi Sandeep,

Can you make sure that user profile services are running under CA. Also try resetting IIS.

  • Hi Sandeep,

From my experience whenever you run into an issue like this it is best to delete the existing User Profile Synchronization (UPS) service application and then rebuild it.

Even after you have deleted it you might still have the orphaned application pool name so use the below powershell commands to delete the orphaned application pool names.

    Get-SPServiceApplicationPool

$apppool= Get-SPServiceApplicationPool -Identity "Your Orphaned SharePoint Service Application Pool Name”

    $apppool

    Remove-SPServiceApplicationPool
    $apppool

    Get-SPServiceApplicationPool

The follow the steps provided in this article to setup your UPS http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups2.aspx.

The article describes the steps for SP2010 but the setup is the same for 2013.

    Hope this helps.

  • Dan,

deleting and recreating the service did not solved the issue.

I checked one more error in event log as below

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID 00bf6905-2e58-450c-8c5e-874c88c20e20) threw an exception. More information is included below.

    System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityAccessDeniedException

    Any help on this?

  • Ummmm...

Looks like you are facing a permissions issue. What service account (sa) account did you use to setup the UPS? Tentatively, give that SA local admin rights to the SharePoint web server.

Also, go back to your UPS and grant the "Full Control" permission on the Permissions tab to the sa.

  • Thanks Daniel,

Our SA is in admin group and I have added SA to permission as well as in administrators of service application options. Still same issue.

It was working fine previously, but all of suddren, it stopped working.

    any other view?
