Keep header rows visible while scrolling

    Question

  • You selected "Repeat header rows on each page" or "Keep header rows visible while scrolling" in the tablix properties dialog, but it doesn't seem to work as expected?

SSRS 2008 R2, this has been reported since 2008!!!

The work arounds are confusing and often do not work.

What is the problem, why has this not been fixed!!

  • Hi Marzipan24,

According to your description, you want your report to show you the header row when scrolling down. Am I right?

In Reporting Service, If you want to show the header row when your scroll down your report. You need to follow these steps to achieve your goal:

    1. Go to grouping pane, click the small triangle next to Column Groups and select Advanced Mode.
    2. Go to your Row Groups pane, click on your first static member. In properties grid, set FixData “True”.

Now your report will show header row correctly as expected. The reason why you can’t make the header row always visible by setting Row Header in Tablix Properties because Row Header setting only apply to your row group area (left part of double dash line in your report, See area with red border line in screenshot below).

So the “Header should remain visible when scrolling” means the row group header will remain visible when scrolling right, not for scrolling down. If you need more detail information, see the blog in Reference. It also has good explanation to your question.

    Reference:
Repeat Header / Keep Header Visible in Tables in RS 2008

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Thanks you so much for clarifying this.  All other solutions don't make this clear and are confusing.

That said, it is ridiculous for Microsoft to not have made this possible thru a user interface as opposed to the properties window. RANT!!!
