How to set a table's visibility to true, even if the table has no rows?

    Question

  • I am using Visual Studio 2005 and want to set a table's visibility to true, even if there's no data. I tried the count expression, but it didn't work. How can I make a table to be shown all the time no matter there's data or not?

    Please help!

PS that table is inside of the list box :(

  • Hello,

Based on your description, you are use SSRS 2005 to design report. By default, in SSRS 2005, the Border Style is none. So, if we have no data in the table, we will got blank in the report.

We can change the BorderStyle property to Solid to get the table border in the report.
    1. Click the text box in the report.
    2. Select “BorderStyle” in the Properties dialog box.
    3. Select Solid option in the text box.

  • by default when you create a table it will be visible whether or not it has data. You can test that by adding a table header row and then your detail row and putting no logic for hidden property. When there's no data, the header row alone will be visible.

  • I'm so sorry, I should have mentioned that the table is inside of the list box. So when there is no data, the list is hidden :(

  • And in case you've a table without header row and you want it to be visible in case of no data, then you need to set norows property with message which gets displayed in case of absence of any data.
