Black Box Testing of SilverLight supported by VS 2010 Ultimate Edition?

    Question

  • Being asked to load test a Silverlight application from a vendor; therefore,  do not have the source code.  Installed VS 2010 Ultimate and later SP1 on development machine and Silverlight 4.0.   Machine is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Eidtion with SP2.

    The application records as a WebTest.  During playback see two issues:

    #1) In Replay, see go.microsoft.com  with LinkID 161376 (Silverlight install).  Installed Silvelight to record, what is needed for playback to skip this?

    #2) Dynamic dynamic parameters like loginToken & sessionID are not detected.  Is detection of Silverlight dynamic parameters supported?

    Does VS 2010 support load testing black box mode?  Thanks.

    The answer is yes. In VS 2010 Ultimate, with Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2, we 're able to record and replay Silverlight 4 application. Feature Pack 2 extends testing capabilities of Visual Studio. Dynamic parameter is supposed to be detected with this setup.
