UnPlug the wire "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" - WSAECONNRESET

Question

Here is  my problem :
I have a Socket talking to a device.
If i "un-plug" the wire 
  for 20 seconds i dont get this error
  altough i know using "Poll" i can check the read state.

I want to know asap the wire is unplugged..
any ideas?

You have to send data across the connection in order to detect if it's still up:

Yes, I send the data.

if (socket.Poll(1000 * 10, SelectMode.SelectWrite))

{

socket.Send(data);

}

but when i read the data it socket.Poll return false, which means the socket is not ready to Read.

 

if (!socket.Poll(ReceiveTimeout, SelectMode.SelectRead))
{
//errror code
}



but it does not say connection drop till 23 secs
