Locked VS2012 check ins

In VS2010, you could right click on solution explorer and select check in to commit all solution changes to TFS.  You would enter check in comments, and commit and return back to solution explorer.  In VS2012, you are transported to an alternate reality called "Pending Changes".  Upon completing that tab, you are stuck / left stranded in this new alien reality and must struggle to find your way back from the dark side back to the solution explorer.  Is there a way to prevent check ins from changing tabs?  This is not fun for consumers of frequent checkin.

There is no way to turn it off.  You are switched to Team Explorer's Pending Changes view.  But I don't understand what problem you're having because Solution Explorer and Team Explorer are two different windows so there should be no problem with them interferring.  If you want to see both at the same time then you can set up your window layout to show both windows.

Prior to VS2012 pending changes was handled by popping up a modal dialog.  This is great if you're ready to check in but can cause problems if you need to fix a conflict, query for a work item, etc.  With VS2012 modal dialogs are taking a back seat.  With VS2012 the Team Explorer window is a standard tool window like Solution Explorer, Output and Toolbox.  So you can unpin the window and move it elsewhere.  Thus you can have the SE window open and TE open at the same time (provided they aren't both part of the same pane of course).

The following MSDN topic discusses the new design: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms245462.aspx

VS2012 has many new great UI enhancements.  This isn't one of them.
