Can only debug, cant release?

Question

Hello there, i am using visual express 2010 C#, i can press the Little Arrow, which has F5 as a shortcut, to debug, but the drop downs right next to it, to choose between release, debug, etc, are grayed out. Any help please?

Is your program running? What you observe is to be expected if you are debugging and execution is paused because you hit a breakpoint or exception or something like that.

In the Express product the option to choose configuration and platform is considered an advanced option and disabled by default. To enable it you'll need to go to Tools\Options -> Projects and Solutions and enable the Show advanced build configurations option.  If you don't see Projects and Solutions then you are still in Basic Settings mode so use Tools\Settings to switch to Expert settings.  You might also need to enable the show all settings that appears at the bottom of the Tools\Options dialog.
