"Invalid product key" error visual studio 2012
-
Friday, September 21, 2012 2:46 PMI have installed the free visual studio 2012 desktop program, and after I put the product key in that was given to me from my msdn site (after registering) I get the error "invalid product key". This is the first VS to be installed on this particular machine, but I believe my user profile was copied from an old machine, and that machine had VS2010 installed on it. I don't know if there is anything there, just trying to give all the info.

Go into control panel add remove programs
repair VS - add the key during the repair process.

Hi ggk12,
Thanks for your post here.
For license issue,I recommend you call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites to find contact information in their locations:
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/What's more, you can try as Dave mentioned to retype your key. I'm afraid just copy your user profile will not enable Visual Studio.
