What do you call lots of money?  Is your connection time that expensive?  How do you afford to post here?

It seems Xamarin is the only choice at the present time.

    Hi el_en_ms,

      Welcome to MSDN Forum Support.

I feel SGRao has provided a series of links on how to use mono for android, and its simple demo mentioned inside these article can easily take into this develop field. If you want to free third-part component used to develop android apps by visual studio 2010, I suspect this is outside the scope, but what I can do is looking for this topic on internet. The following seciton listed in the bottom of the link:

     Why you’ll love Xamarin

Xamarin isn't the only game in town, by far.

    Xamarin ~$300 for license

WingDB - Mobile Edition - Free of Charge, Beta (Possibly for charge in the future?)

VS-Android - Open Source - Free (No Debugging support?)

StackOverflow Question, with other answers as well.

An alternative to Xamarin is dot42. It allows you to write Andoid apps in C# with Visual Studio. It comes with a fee community license.
