I have a current 4.0 production machine - been running for last 5years

I also have a 2011 machine - that has been running for about the last 60-days - it contains all the data that was migrated over from the 4.0 machine - Over the last 60 days i have converted and tested all the Java (i.e. from CRM to XRM code) - In the meantime users have continued to add data to the 4.0 machine.

Now that i have my 2011 system up and running and have tested all the re-coded customizations i want to clear out the old test data and then re-import ONLY the current data from 4.0 production machine (just the data not any customizations or reports)

is this possible without using a 3rd party solution like scribe?

    Thanks in advance

    Randall

     Proposed Answer

    If you have enough time!

    There´re three possible ways

    - Using a 3rd Party Tool

    - Using SSIS

    - Export your CRM2011 Customizations as unmanaged or managed solutions.
Convert your CRM 4.0 Database by an inplace upgrade and cleanup all old modifications (JScripts, Reports, ...)
Then import your managed or unmanaged solutions containing the new code, reports, ...

Thanks Carsten for your time -

I have some calls with Scribe - but I may actually try method 3 as that would be the ideal scenario for me-  If I remember afterward i post my results!

Strongly suggest the last method as well.  It will make life easy.  Be sure to set the import to overwrite anything already in the system.
