  • Hi

Sql 2008 has inbuild functionality of TDE

SQL Server 2008 is Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). TDE encrypts everything in the database while being transparent to applications

TDE is fully supported with Dynamics CRM 4.0.

As Crm 2011 also uses SQL 2008 which implies that this can be acheived.

Also find a microsoft article which you might find useful on securing crm data

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but TDE encrypts the physical Database file on the disk, not the data in the database tables.

  • hi again

    yes thats correct

Transparent data encryption (TDE) performs real-time I/O encryption and decryption of the data and log files

please find an article for complete understanding of TDE

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb934049.aspx

As CRM doesnt has option to encription of custom field , but using field level security you can control the access rights

    hope this helps

  • Got it. TDE isn't what we are looking for in that case. We'll have to find another way to do what we need.

    Thank you for your time!
