Install updates for your computer

Question

Hiya,
I am not '.net' user.
Window update ask me to install the upate "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) X86"
Also it is saying 'Security' update!?!
I am just wondering... how .net framework 3.5 is related to my desktop security!?!
Is it something like... Marketing/ forcing the user to install .net framework and let their system die (make system slow)?
Can anyone help on this?

First of all  .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) X86 have nathing to do with security that much If you have software that is coded in .NET Framework you will need it, if not you could remove it from your XP system. there is no easy way to determine if you have software that requires it, but if you uninstall it & try to start software that needs it, the software will let you know .

if you think is a large update then you should use  (custom ) update and and chose what you wants

or in the up date box  use ( notify me but do not automatically daonload or install them
