    Hi,

How to add MC9090-G with Mobility Pack/Microsoft Biztalk RFID Mobile device to Microsoft BizTalk RFID Server?

I could not find respective download or DSPI for Server edition to add Mobile device to Microsoft BizTalk RFID Server.
I used Default configuration on HH Device ( 5084 Port ) but don’t know how to add a device on BizTalk RFID Server.
Which port to use ? Port 80?

    Thanks,

    Bhavin Panchal

    Bhavin,

All you need is to have llrp provider (can be obtained by installing Microsoft BizTalk RFID Standards Pack) up and running on your rfid server and the Microsoft BizTalk RFID Mobile on your MC9090-G device would be ready to connect to the rfid server.

You can find more information in %rfidinstalldir%\SDK\Mobile\v1.1\Documentation\BizTalkRFIDMobile.chm under section

Microsoft BizTalk RFID Mobile Help > Operations > Managing Mobile RFID Devices > How to Connect a Mobile Device to an RFID Server

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Could you please let us know if you have installed Microsoft BizTalk RFID Standards Pack on on your rfid server machine ? After installing it please following these steps.

To enable the Remote Management option

    1. Tap Start > Programs > Microsoft BizTalk RFID > RFID Manager Mobile to start the RFID Management application.

    2. In the RFID Management application, choose the Manage tab.

    3. Select Enable Remote Management to let the mobile device communicate with a BizTalk RFID server.

    4. In the Server Name or IP address box, type the name or IP address of the BizTalk RFID server.

    5. In the Server Port box, type the port number that the LLRP provider (on the BizTalk RFID server) uses to listen for reader-initiated connections.

      Note
The default port number used by the LLRP provider is 5084. To check the port number used by a provider, open RFID Manager, click Device Providers, right-click a device provider, and select Properties. In the Properties dialog box, choose Initialization Properties to view connection-related properties like the Port number used by the device provider to listen for reader-initated connections.
    6. In the Connection retry interval (seconds) box, type the number of seconds the RFID Management application must wait before retrying a connection (if a previous connection attempt failed) with a BizTalk RFID server.

    7. Tap Apply to enable remote management through RFID Manager.

    8. In RFID Manager on a BizTalk RFID server, right-click the Device node, and then click Refresh to view a list of all connected devices.

You can find more information %rfidinstalldir%\SDK\Mobile\v1.1\Documentation\BizTalkRFIDMobile.chm under sections Microsoft BizTalk RFID Mobile Help > Operations > Managing Mobile RFID Devices.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Keerthi.

    Hi Keethi,

Thank you very much for quick response.  I have already checked on the Microsoft BizTalk RFID Mobile part. I am looking for Symbol MC9090-G LLRP provider related documentation/guideline, that I can install on Microsoft BizTalk RFID Server.  I am already done with configuration on HH Device (MC9090-G).

I guess my question is on the wrong forum. I may need to ask symbol on the same.

    Thank you,

    Hi Keerthi,

Thank you very much for your inputs. I could manage to add MC9090-G to microsoft BizTalk RFID.

The key point is to install BizTalk RFID Standards Pack  from location : "http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/7/0/2702afcd-afd8-43a7-b07a-0e5d545b091a/Biztalk_RFID_Standards_Pack_x86.exe"

I had only default Microsoft BizTalk RFID R2 installed on my machine. after installing Standards Pack it is working fine.

    Thank you very much,

    Hi,

Thanks Bharath. I had successfully installed the provider.

I am facing problem with managing the device remotely. I followed the instructions to enable the device to be configured remotely. However, I cant not c the device on the BizTalk server. I have installed BizTalk 2009. I cant install the service pack http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/7/0/2702afcd-afd8-43a7-b07a-0e5d545b091a/Biztalk_RFID_Standards_Pack_x86.exe. As it is giving me the following error:

Microsoft BizTalk RFID Standards Pack could not be installed because either BizTalk RFID is not currently installed or it corresponds to a different language. To install Microsoft BizTalk RFID Standards Pack, first install Microsoft BizTalk RFID, and try again.

Is there any service pack for BizTalk RFID 2009?!

    Suad

    Hi Saud,
BizTalk Standards pack is for BizTalk RFID 2006 R2. The LLRP provider comes by default when BizTalk Server RFID 2009 is installed. It would be present at "%RFIDINSTALLDIR%\Providers\LLRP". Also, it would have been registered with RFIDServices as part of the setup itself. However, if you do not see it in the providers listed in RFID Manager, please follow the steps in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298758(BTS.10).aspx to add the LLRP provider.

    Thanks,

    Hi Sharat,

Thank you so much for your response. You are right, the LLRP provider exists in the folder you have mentioned and I can see it listed in the provider list in my RFID manager. The problem is that I have configured my remote device to be managed by the RFID server. I have provided the IP of the server and the port of the LLRP provider. However I still can not see the mobile device listed in the devices list. I ensured that the mobile device is connected to my WLAN. I can ping to the mobile device from my RFID server machine. Can you please help me with this issue?

    Regards,
    Suad

    Hi Suad,

The troubleshooting page in the documentation outlines a couple of reasons why this could be happening. If you are sure that the mobile device is connected to the WLAN (which you confirmed), the most usual reason is that the LLRP Provider's port not being allowed in the firewall.

    Hi Kranthi,

I can see the mobile device listed on RFID Server. The problem was that I have given the hostname of the server in the RFID mobile manager.

The problem now is that the status of the device is failed-Unconfigured. When i tried to enable the device it asked for the user name and password. I dont have any user name and password for the mobile device. Whenever I tried to enable the mobile device from the RFID server without username and password it gives the following error:

A connection could not be established to the device. To view the last known properties of the device or to modify the connection information, click OK.
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 192.168.1.23:5084

What could be the problem?! Thanks

    Hi Suad,

You need to have the Management App (or the ReadTags App... actually, any app that uses the RfidServerConnector) running while you do this. If you close the App, the connectivity will be lost. Once you start up the app, RfidServerConnector will attempt to establish a connection to the Server: if you have unblocked the LLRP port in your firewall and if you are connected to your network, the connection will be established automatically and the device will get enabled automatically as well. Then the device would go into the Open state if you have a process running which is bound to this device, otherwise it will go into the Closed state.

    Thanks,
    Kranthi.
