Is there anybody out there who knows when and if MS is going to build a good ODBC adapter ?

I think for a product like BizTalk you should have at least a nice ODBC so you can connect to every system that supports ODBC.

Hi,

I have created a webservice and enabled the WSE settings.Now in my biztalk application I have created a send port and tried to configure the send port with the WSE adapter.When I tried this I have option only to mention the webservice URI to which I am sending the xmldocument.I am not able to determine which method has to be called like in "SOAP adapter".This always results in a "Method Name null exception" inmy event viewer.Please let me know what I have to do. HL7 2.x multipart schema for BTAHL72X Send Pipeline without orchestration

Hi,

In our current biztalk2006 R2 application we are sending HL7 2.1 message to a third party. We are using an orchestration to construct HL7 message which is a multipart type message, having MSHSegment, ORM schema and ZSegment as message parts.

In new application we want to elemenate all orchestrations. So my question is how to achieve the same HL7 with three message parts without an orchestration. I created a schema which imports the required HL7 segments(MSH etc), but the BTAHL72X Send Pipeline throughs following error :

Hi,

I am getting an error while sending file to FTP location.But the same is working fine on another machine.I have check the configuration and cetificates and pwds also.But still unable to figure out the problem.Help needed.

Configure URI for SAP Adapter from BizTalk Adapter Pack 2.0 in ReceiveLocation or SendPort does not work with sap router string

When using the WCF-SAP Adapter of the BizTalk Adapter Pack V.2.0 we can not use the “Configure…” button in the ReceiveLocation or SendPort of “BizTalk Server Administration Console” for configuring the SAP connection parameters when we use a SapRouterString for Connection to SAP, because it generates a wrong URI.
It generates e.g.
sap://CLIENT=800;LANG=DE;@A//H/saprouter/H/sapserver/00?RfcSdkTrace=False&AbapDebug=False
but it should generate:
sap://CLIENT=800;LANG=DE;@A/%2FH%2Fsaprouter%2FH%2Fsapverver/00?RfcSdkTrace=False&AbapDebug=False
Reason: Slashes / are reserved characters and should be replaces by %2F when used in a connection property.

A similar dialog works correct, when creating schemas for SAP in Visual Studio 2005 with this adapter. On a BizTalk Project you can “Add Generated Items…” then choose “Consume Adapter Service” and select the “sapBinding” afterwards. The “configure…” button in this dialog generates a valid URI.

Is there a workaround and when will this be fixed?

WSS 64-bit + Oracle 32-bit on the same machine

Hi guys,

I have a 64-bit Win2008 server box, with WSS 64-bit adapter. Later I installed 32-bit Oracle, which broke WSS.
The issue is that Oracle adds a bunch of providers to both 64-bit and 32-bit machine config:
For example this one:

When I try to run WSS web service, it complains that it can't load Oracle.Web assembly, that is obviouse why - it tries to load 64-bit version which simply doesn't exist at all, since Oracle is 32-bit.

My question is:
Why 32-bit Oracle upon installation modified both 32-bit and 64-bit machine config? - that's the biggest question. Is it safe to dump all Oracle stuff from 64-bit machine.config file?

Is there any workaround for this ?

We have a BizTalk group with 2 Biztalk(2006 R2) server nodes . We are in the process of installing the Biztalk adapters for Host systems for integration with AS/400 systems
We want to use both Biztalk nodes ..
I know we need to install the Biztalk adapters for Host systems on both the server nodes

1 . After installing we configured the Biztalk adapters for Host systems on Node A . We installed the Biztalk adapters for Host systems on node B also but do we need to configure it also on node B ?
2 . If so how do we set the Primary server , Sub Domain etc in the NetWork Integration tab of the config tool ?

3. Our's is 64 Bit BizTalk running under Windows 64 bit windows server ? Does Biztalk adapters for Host systems support 64 bit ?

WCF -Oracle Adaptor

I have WCF-LOB Oracle adapter installed E:
I have Oracle 11. Installed on E:

I can generate schemas but when deploy started to Test it says

"TNS alias is longer than 39 characters, or (b) ambient transaction is present and a non-TNS based URI was used. To resolve this, use a TNS alias to connect to Oracle and make sure it is not more than 39 characters."

I did the following checks:

1. Checked the Sqlnet.ora filen TnsNames.ora files both exist under E:\Oracle\Product\11.1.0\Client_1\network\admin
2. Sqlnet.Ora --->SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

6. From Start--All Programs-Oracle Client 11-Application Development --SQLPLUS
    Cheked with both bad and good credentials
    This it gave me ORA-12560- TNS:Protocol Adapter Error both times.
7. I Tried to chek with System DSN in the TNS drodownlist i dont see ABCDE1.
8. The Schema generation form WCF Consume adaptor works when I keep URIProperties: ServiceType : DEDICATED
8. If i change Service Type : Shared it gives me ORA-12520 : TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server.

Can you please guide me What I am missing. What Additional things do i consider to make it to work.

Project renaming

Has anyone else seen the WCF LOB Adapters renaming their BizTalk 2009 projects in Visual Studio 2008? If I have a project named "MyProject", after consuming the SAP or SQL adapters the project has been renamed to "MyProject.btproj" and the project file name has been renamed to "MyProject.btproj.csproj".

I have added the scheme files that came with Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5 to visual studio 2006 (C:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet 3.5\SDK\Schemas)

I get the following error; can somebody explain how I can resolve this error?

I was reading in few articles about this but was little confusing for me.

Log : is this file log file path on main frame or Biztalk client machine
Representation : ASCII
TargetFileName : what would be the file if for example they give xxx.yy.zz as dataset do we need to include (1)
TempFolder : do i need to include any temp folder

Availability of the adapter pack for download

The adapter pack isn't included in the MSDN welcome pack (Part No. X15-80852) and isn't available for download with the professional subscription. I understood this product to be covered by the license for BizTalk Server. Can you please let me know where I can download the full release of the adapter pack or whether it's Ok to use the evaluation version for development purposes indefinitely? We intend to purchase enterprise licences for BizTalk once we've finished development work.

BizTalk 2009 - Not recovering from SAP Backup

Environment: Multi-node BizTalk 2009 group, Windows Server 2008 64 Bit, Microsoft BizTalk Adapter v2.0 for mySAP Business Suite (NOT BizTalk Adapter Pack adapter)

Every Saturday night at 9pm, SAP goes down for a backup. All interfaces, users are locked out of the system. This backup takes around 30 minutes to complete. Our on call person received a call aroun 11pm indicating that SAP IDOCs were not being sent to BizTalk. He logged onto the BizTalk Servers, verified that all applications(and receive locations) were online/enabled. He was also able to validate that BizTalk was sending IDOCs( from within this same application/host instance) to SAP without any issues.

Upon restarting the Host Instances responsible for receiving SAP IDocs, the messages flowed through without issue.

What is interesting is that we have been running Biztalk 2006 R1 for several years with this version of the SAP Adapter and have never had issues with recovering from SAP backups.

We could schedule a restart of these host instances for every Saturday night after the backup but that is not an ideal situation.

In the event viewer, we did notice a few of these errors. But, like I said, there were no receive locations offline when our on-call guy logged onto the servers. He did not enable or start any applications - only restarted host instances.

So it is almost as if BizTalk could not re-connect to SAP or was trying to use the old connection that it had established before the outage.

MQ Adapter for BizTalk Server 2009 - odd problem

I am running 32bit Windows Server Enterprise 2008 with BizTalk Server 2009 and IBM MQSeries 7.0.1.

I have BizTalk set to talk to MQSeries via the non-client adapter - so it uses MSDTC.
Single server self-contained environment.

Everything works for a while, but then BizTalk slows to a crawl, only outputting messages occasionally.
The symptoms are similar to what is noted in this hotfix from BizTalk 2006.

We have an application that is working correctly with HIS 2000 using COM+ with a security callback. I'm trying to convert to HIS 2009 and call using WCF. I use the same import, converting the recordsets to structs, and/or an array of structs. I receive the following error. WCF SAP Adapter throws InvalidOperationException due to XMLReaderParsingException during BAPI call to SAP

I use WCF SAP adapter [Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2.0] to send request to SAP for BAPI transactions.

I get XMLReaderParsingException for the empty field in the XML request to SAP. Here is the actual error message:

“Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderParsingException: The length of the value for the field exceeds the allowed value. Value: 5 Field: “<Field Name>” Allowed value: 3”

The actual field contains no values and its blank "<FieldName />".

Due to the above exception, SAP Adapter terminates all the other running (in-process) transactions during BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT call and throws below mentioned exception:

System.InvalidOperationException: The Inner Channel to use was not found for the key {54E914C8-1FDF-4CA0-8FFA-D40B106EAB3A}_{0D06C358-1068-4460-ABDD-DB7DEC0D249A};URI= "<connection URI> ". Specify a valid key.”

I can re-produce this scenario by adding blank spaces in the XML during initial BAPI call to SAP for one of the transactions.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me out on this issue.

SMTP send problem

Hi,

I'm having a SMTP send problem ocassionally in Biztalk 2006. The issue is with the SMTP adapter connecting to the server: "The transport failed to connect to the server".
Each time when this error occurs, I tested the connectivity to the SMTP server with telnet and the connection between Biztalk and the server is fine. However, the SMTP adapter doesn't seem to respond even when I changed to other SMTP server or restarted the host instance. And it's strange that approximately after few hours, resuming the suspended instance the SMTP send port is working again. I really don't know what is causing this.

Oracle WCF-LOB, pollingInterval

Hi guys,

I am using Oracle WCF-LOB adapter for polling Oracle database, pollingInterval is set to 1800 secs (30 mins). The issue is that the adapter kicks in not every 30 mins as I expect, but at random intervals - 1 hour, 5 bours, 1 hour 30 mins, then there may be a couple of 30 mins intervals and so on...
Did anyone experience such a behavior?

I am getting this error.

I am trying to use SQLEXECUTE. No problem with the sample on BT 2009. When I create my own project and map a simple schema to the SQLEXECUTE schema if fails. Any help would be appreciated.

After doing some more research it appears that you have to do another map prior to this applying this stylesheet
from basic schema --> basic schema(stripped of ns:0)

BizTalk 2009 x64: SQL and MQSeries Adapters

Hi all

I have no BizTalk experience here, so bear with me.

We're looking at setting up a BizTalk 2009 platform and we're looking at the build for the servers. Performance will not be a particularly pressing consideration for now, but we want to implement a scalable solution. To that end, we're looking at installing on Windows x64 to leverage the extra memory capacity. I just want to know if this precludes any future implementations. Initially we will need to cater for a SQL Adapter and maybe a MQSeries adapter, but looking at this page

and a few others, I'm a little unsure of the support position of the adapters if we go x64.

Can anyone confirm that the SQL Adapter and the MQSeries adapter are supported on x64? Can I take it that it's just the host-instance that must be 32-bit for these (not the host), and does anyone have any experience or advice for this configuration?

Biztalk server 2005 - How do I Send an XML File to a https://soap-??????/rosettanet/default.aspx address

I have followed the Biztalk server 2005 tutorials and it has given me a little insight/knowledge into Biztalk.

I need to send an XML file to a URL. I have the XML file and I just want to be able to send it to the URL.

Do I need some Secure FTP software to do this or can I do this through Biztalk?

Can someone please advice the easiest/simplest way to be able to send the file to the URL via Biztalk.

In my application The MSMQ Receive location is configured to receive the message from Remote computer MSMQ.

On the System on which biztalk is installed MSMQ is not installed.

When i submit the message in receive location (Remote computer MSMQ) i got the following error
"The adapter "MSMQ" raised an error message. Details "Message Queuing has not been installed on this computer.".

Is it require to install Message Queuing on the Biztalk server.?

Hi All,

I have a receive location which configured using WCF-BasicHttp, I set the message size to 3 MB cause I have big messages, but sometimes for not all messages, I have a worning in the event viewer that the maxBufferSize should be exceeded and the maxBufferSize is 64 KB, Whay I know that the maxBufferSize in the WCF-BasicHttp will be exactly the same as max message size which should be in this case 3 MB.

Note that all messages approximetly have the same size which is around 500 KB and the message size will not exceed the 1 MB

MSMQ how to setup correlation?

HI all,

I'm tryint to set up communication between two different BizTalk instances via MSMQ. Now I'm failing with the correlation part of MSMQ.

I'm trying to initialize correlation from orchestration (MSMQ.CorrelationId), but failing with that. Now on my orchestration, after receive shape, I'm copying (message assignment, basically copying) the message to another message, setting the correlation value and sending created message to MSMQ. However that is not working, and I'm receiving this error from send por to queuet:
"The following exception: "Index and length must refer to a location within the string.
Parameter name: length" was thrown by MSMQ. This can be caused by a badly formatted queue path, if this is a Dynamic Send check the URI in the message."

Could someone kindly tell me a bit more detailed steps (meaning what properties to use to succesfully initialize MSMQ correlation set) to get this working? When this orchestration is working, I'll have another orchestration that changes message, and it needs to set the same properties to message so that the correlation works...

Any help would be highly apreciated!

Intermittent delays in receiving IDOCs

Hello,

I am experiencing an unusual issue receiving IDOCs from SAP and was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this?

We are using BizTalk 2006 R2 with adapter pack 3.0 to receive IDOCs from SAP.

We are experiencing an intermittant delays in receiving individual idocs.

In the SAP IDOC monitor program we02 the status indicates that the IDOC has been successfully sent to the outbound SAP port.
Sometimes the IDOC comes out immediately. Sometimes they take up to an hour.
If IDOCs are sent in a group, some in the group turn up instantly. Some take their time.
None are lost.

There are no errors in the event log and the first sign I see of them in HAT is when they eventually turn up.

There doesn't seem to be much of a pattern. It doesn' seem to be related to volume, size, or type of IDOC.

The SAP guys claim everything looks normal on their side.

BizTalk integration with Informix db

Just curious, what would be a good way to connect from BizTalk to an informix database? I need to perform lookups and updates in Informix ?

So far, I know there's an adapter available with Attunity Inc for informix but it doesn't work with 64bit version of informix that we use. Besides, it is way too expensive to use. Has anyone tried using the open source ODBC Adapter for BizTalk and if so, were u able to use it for Informix. This is the odbc adapter: http://blogs.msdn.com/cvidotto/archive/2006/03/22/557250.aspx

Another option we're considering is using IBM's .Net data provider for Informix, but obviously it won't work for lookups straight w/o needing some orchestration work.

Problems disabling custom adapter

I have just developed a custom receive adapter. My problem is that the adapter does not stop it's processing when it is disabled through the adm console. I have tried googleing the web to figure out how this is managed in a biztalk adapter. There must be some method which I need to implement is what I think. I could't find the answer in the adapter framework documentation. Could someone point me in the right direction?

WCF custom SAP adapter picking up latest version of IDOC from SAP

I am using WCF Custom adapter to receive IDOC from SAP.Issue with WCF Adapter is that even when an older release (say 620) of IDOC is triggered from SAP System by changing partner profile, the WCF SAP Adapter picks up only the latest release(say 640) of the IDOC.

As there are some interfaces using old release of IDOC and some interfaces using new release so we need both to be working.

Is this bug with the product or any work around can be used to resolve this issue.
If anyone have faced this issue the pls help.

Receive different IDOCs over one ReceiveLocation using ReceiveIdocFormat String with WCF-SAP Adapter from BizTalk Adapter Pack

It is not possible to receive different IDOCs (e.g. MATMAS03 and DEBMAS03) with the WCF-SAP Adapter of the BizTalk Adapter Pack V.2.0 over one SAP “ProgramId” respectively one ReceiveLocation, when setting the ReceiveIdocFormat property to “String”. In this case it is always mandatory to use a CustomPipeline with FlatFileDisassemblers for each IDOC. The problem is that the first FlatFileDisassembler in the CustomPipeline tries to disassemble all received IDOCs and we get an error like:

Unexpected data found while looking for: 'E2MARAM004'

The current definition being parsed is idocData. The stream offset where the error occured is 520. The line number where the error occured is 2. The column where the error occured is 0..

This did work in the “old” BizTalk Adapter “BizTalk Adapter v.2.0 for mySAP Bussiness Suite SP1” which is one of the LOB Adapters of BizTalk.

Reason: If you generate an IDOC schema with the property “GenerateFlatFileCompatibleIdocSchema” is set to “true” the schema file in the 15^th Line bottom-up in the file “IDoc.MATMAS03.46C.3.xsd” says:

</recordInfo>

But it should say, as the “old” Sap Adapter similar does:

</recordInfo>

Please check if this issue is a bug, or how can we receive different IDOCs with ReceiveIdocFormat property “String” with one ProgramId respectively one ReceiveLocation in BizTalk.

Has anyone else encountered this, is there a fix or a workaround? Is it possible to install the transports from the SAP Transport manager STMS? I am a relative newbie with all of this so any advice would be welcome.

Oracle Procedures and xsi:nil="true"

When we call an Oracle procedure using BizTalk Adapter Pack v2, it fails because not all the elements in the XML document are present. According to the documentation we must add all missing elements with the attribute xsi:nil="true". This is a very fundamental change compared to version v1.

Typically there are 50 parameters in a call and some 10 or so might be missing. Potentially 48 could be missing. What is the easiest way to ensure that all the elements are present in the XML. Map (what functoid to use?), custom xslt, some sort of change in the generated schemas?

Outbound operations: In the previous version of the Oracle Database adapter, if you executed stored procedures in which some parameters are not specified in the input XML file, a NULL value was sent for those parameters. Even if default values were specified for these parameters in the stored procedure, still a NULL value was sent for those parameters. In the current version of the adapter, no value is sent for the parameters that do not have a value specified in the input XML file. If a default value is specified in the stored procedure, the Oracle database uses that value because no value was sent by the adapter. If a NULL value needs to be sent, the user needs to specify a NULL node in the input XML file by setting the value of “nil” attribute to “true.”

LOB Adapters 2.0 Biztalk 2009 - WCF Oracle DB Adapter

The following error occurs when you are are using Oracle dedicated vs shared services for connections. The error only manifests itself when you
are going across database links with any object (view, stored proc). The solution is ... In you BT Admin Console --> application --> sendport --> send port properties --> General. Select "Configure" button and go to "Bindings" Tab. Change "useAmbientTransaction" to False. Hopefully this gets indexed via Bing/Google and someone

Hi,
I am getting the following exception when subit a doc to send port to perform SQLExecute operation.

Start element 'SQLSTATEMENT' expected. Found element
'ns0:SQLSTATEMENT' from namespace 'http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/SQLEXECUTE'.

A scema for the message has been generated by the Add Adapter service reference plug in.
What am I missing, any ideas ?

I am working with "BizTalk 2009 Adapters for Host System 2.0" and trying to insert a record in a db2 table which is on a AS400 System i series Os.

I get the following error when the DB2 Send Port tries to insert the record in the table.

FYI, BizTalk can read the table succesfully if I configure the recieve DB2 adapter with Select query on it.

So I feel its nothing with connection string.
