2008 R2 Install Error 2203

    Question

  • I had installed 2008 express r2 but without the management part of it. So I downloaded the installer for the management part of it and launched the install. Went through the install and it majorly Messed everything up. So I attempted to go uninstall everything via Add/ Remove... Which further destroyed anything related to SQL install or uninstall.

I performed a bunch of recommendations I found here on the MS sites.

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_install/error-2203/d462b2e4-0f00-4db6-a010-b8847efb1200?auth=1

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2642495/en-us

Also did one final try by Removed all references from registry deleting install folders etc. Cant find that tab open currently.

I am trying to reinstall 2008r2 now however still getting errors. This should be simple but it is not.In

in order of appearance during install.... (when i hit OK it just continues which is mind blowing)

(site wont let me upload images)

    Then

I'm stuck.. I'm logged in as Administrator .. I run the installer as admin.. and I have done permissions and everything I found in the above links.

  • Hello,

Please try to run setup with the “Run as Administrator” option.

Read the suggestions provided on the following post too

  • I always use run as admin. It did manage to add more each time through the install. Looks like everything was installed except for the MMC snap in. I just ran a repair on the install however this time through the install it came up with that 2203 error again.  This is the weirdest sh*t I have ever seen. Managed to get everything but Replication (which I dont believe is even needed this is the only server I will store the database on) and Engine Services... Screenshot

(can someone activate me fully never got any email for activation etc.)

  • Hi,

What operation system are you using? If you are using Windows 7, you may refer the below link and restore the system to previous time and see if it helps.

To restore system will preserve all the software and files before the previous restore point. And all of your private date will be preserved.

    Reference:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/turn-system-restore-on-off#1TC=windows-7

To verify your account, you need to post in the current verification thread here:

  • no matter what i try to do I end up with an error saying 2203 and the a ****.ipi file that can't be opened / read. I have literally allowed full permissions on everything, ran as admin 9im even signed in as admin), went through every link above and tried that. Nothing works...

How can you make something that can get screwed up this bad? I see other people are having the same issue and no one has an answer that works.
