ActiveDocument.Path for new documents

    Question

  • When creating a new document, the ActiveDocument.Path is not set until you save it, even though it defaults to "My Document" folder.

Why is this? Shouldn't the ActiveDocument.Path default to My Documents\DefaultFilename?

  • Actually,I'm writing an add-in that works in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Project so all of those were needed.
No problem anyway, I have things figured out already. Thanks for looking.

  • I am considering that you are using word 2007,

Here  you can change the default word save setting.

Your road map is as below :
    (1) Click on Office Button (left top corner round office logo is displayed)
    (2) Click on Word Options
    (3) Select Save Option
    (4) You will find Default File Location --- by defualt it is targettting to systems mydocument.

So you can change default directory.

    Best wishes.
