Exporting Report to Excel with columns contained original value

    Question

  • I intentionally truncated Item Description using Mid() function to display only a portion of it in the report. The purpose is to make the whole report fit in A4 paper. The problem is, users want a complete Item Description when exporting to excel. Is there a technique to do this?

  • Hi Jayvee,

Without using  Mid() function you can do this.

Please follow the steps given below.

(1).  Select the properties of Item Description text box.

(2). Change CanShrink to True and CanGrow to False.

(3). Adjust report width so that it will fit in A4 paper.

        (4) . Save and Deploy the report.

After exporting to excel, now you can see the full item description.

Hope this will solve your issue.

  • Dhanisha, Please do not propose your own answer!

By posting an answer we already know that you think that this is THE ANSWER, else why did you post it?!? as well any other person who post an answer! he is sure that he post THE ANSWER. The Idea of proposing an answer is to let someone else say that he also think that this is THE ANSWER. If each person that think his response is the answer will propose his own answer then all responses will be marked.
