Printing from RDLC report to Dot Matrix Printer using Generic/Text only printer driver

    Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to print a RDLC report to a dot matrix printer using Generic/Text only printer driver in windows xp. But the problem is that, I am not getting the proper output as I am able to see in the preview of the report. In the preview the report the output is perfect. But when I print to the printer, some of the fields are shrinked and not displayed completely. When I increase the width of the coloumn in the table, its printing only some columns as it does not fit. So I hope someone can help me to sort out this issue.

  • HI

I am having a similar problem.
I am at the point where i have a usable solution.
    It is limited tho.

In my report layout, i am using a grid space of 1.6666in.
This is like 6 lines per inch.
I am using courier font at 12pt.
    This is almost 10cpi.
I am using text boxes with padding set to 1,1,0,0

I also am using a generic text driver.
This way what i see on the screen matches what i get on the printer.
I am restricted to one size font (no bold), 10cpi and 6 lines per inch.
This produces a fast printing (if printer is in draft mode). and this is ok for me.

Otherwise, i am still hopeful for support for Bold, and 17cpi, and maybe double high and double wide, as these are built into the generic driver.

    I hope this helps.
