I am trying to use the TFS trail version available on MS site to perform a dual - server installation
1. SQL 2006 is installed on 64 bit OS with all the necessary services - data tier
2. WSS 3.0 is installed on different server, also a 64 bit OS
3. I have a virtual server ( 32 bit OS) ready for TFS installtion - application tier
So, here is the problem. When I run the installer on the data- tier to install the TFS databases ( which is one of the pre-requisites per the installation guide ) the installer quits when it detects that it is running on a 64 bit OS. How do I get around this and install the databases required for TFS!!!
please help.........Tuesday, January 13, 2009 11:10 PM
Are you installing TFS 2008? If so then you will do the prerequisite installs first (like you seems to have done) then you run the install of TFS on the application tier machine and it will create the TFS databases and do the initial configuration.
I'd recommend you go through the "Checklist: Dual-Server Team Foundation Server Installation" in the TFS setup guide (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ff12844f-398c-4fe9-8b0d-9e84181d9923&displaylang=en) so that you have looked at setting up the different components before running the install.Wednesday, January 14, 2009 6:09 AM
Yes i am using TFS 2008.
OK ...so now i proceed to install TFS on the app tier...I get to the system check and it chokes with several warnings ( the bottom line is it cannot connect to data tier ) even though the setup account has been made admin on both the App tier and Data tier. All teh requires ports are opened on the Data tier and I am assuming the required ports will be opened in the App tier when the installation completes
I am not sure what i could be missing here....so i hit next hoping i can come back and fix the Data tier issues
Now i am stuck in the Windoes Sharepoint Service page in the setup
Since i am using an existing WSS deployment i chose "Use a server already running WSS"
Central Admin Url = http://WSSServerName:port ( the port is not 17012)
Default Site URL - http://WSSServerName:customport/sites ( the port is not 80)
I get the error message
TF220034 : The default URL for WSS could not be found at the following location...
I cant proceed...can you help?Tuesday, January 20, 2009 10:39 PM
