Upgrading SQL 2008 Standard SP3 to SQL 2012 Enterprise on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (6.1 Build 7600)

    Question

  • Hi!

I have gone through the supported OS list for SQL 2012 Enterprise edition but couldn't find Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (no service packs installed, 6.1 Build 7600).

Could anybody please confirm if the upgrade path is supported without having to upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard to Service Pack 1?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

No, Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM (no SP) is not compatible with SQL Server 2012. SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 is required for SQL Server 2012 setup program.

    Hope this helps.
