I have Win 7 Home Premium -- Visual Studio Ultimate / SP1, dot net 4, the works -- an otherwise clean PC.  This package is the most enticing package, just based off what MS says about it.  Unfortunately, the marketing and buildup to the product is, currently, at best, tenuous.  This product will not install on any machine I have.  I've given up on all but this one, Win 7.  I've read Lucian's blog, and probably anything that's been written on this.  I've uninstalled Silverlight 5, and I've uninstalled KB2635973, KB2549864, and KB2615527.  Prior to uninstalling the KBs, this package appeared to install correctly but it wasn't present anywhere in my system.  After uninstalling the KBs, the install just flat out failed.

My recommendation is to not uninstall all the windows updates that took hours to install.  You'll waste countless hours you'll never get back by uninstalling all the KBs, rebooting, installing them again, rebooting, etc., only to have the installation fail again.  After all, it's oxymoronic to suggest you have to UNinstall UPdates.  After spending as much as I did on VS 2010 Ultimate, you would think C# and VB synchronization would have been an obvious feature of the software, but it's not.  And trying to install the addon feature is proving to be even more distressful.

I faced a similar issue not too long ago and the way I fixed it was to uninstall VS 2010 SP1 and the 3 problem updates you've cited. Then I installed SP1 and immediately installed the Async CTP. Then proceeded w/ the other updates. This worked for me.

If your async CTP is not installed properly, you have to remove registry entries and then try again.

It's better to reinstall Visual studio with SP1 and install ASync CTP, it's community preview as name insists and can't be treated like beta, if you want to try you better install VS 2012 RC which comes inbuilt and with also new set of features
