Updating Web Service Extremely Slow

I have a very strange issue. I have a very large .NET 4.0 targeted windows app that references a .NET 4.0 targeted web service. The web service is quite large (+- 150 methods). I also have several other smaller windows apps that use this same web service.
The issue I am having is NOT with the large windows app, but with the other smaller apps. When updating the web reference in the smaller apps, it takes up to 5 minutes. However, the large windows app takes a couple of seconds to update!? I've checked all the settings on the large app and applied them to the smaller apps with no success. I don't have "Generate XML documentation file" ticked on any projects. In addition, I've tried creating a new project and just adding the service to it and then updating it. (With NO code in the new proj.) The adding of the web service is quick, but updating is still just as slow.
Even stranger, none of my colleagues have this issue - which leads me to believe that perhaps it's my VS 2010 rather than the code or a setting. But why is this not happening to my older, large project, but NONE of my new projects? (Don't know if it makes any difference - but my large project WAS a .NET 2.0 project and developed in VS 2005. I converted it over a year ago to VS 2010 and changed framework to 4.0).
I cannot seem to find anyone having a similar issue so I'm really stumped. My next step is to reinstall VS, but if anyone can assist here before undertaking this mammoth task that I don't have time for, I'd be super-appreciative!
