    Hi,

I am trying to deploy an app for SharePoint and deploy to my Office 365 developer site.  However I am getting the following error when trying to deploy it in Visual Studio 2012 RC:

Failed to install App for SharePoint

I went onto the Developer Site and notice my app is there in Site Content, though it has an message "Sorry, something went wrong with adding the app".  I have tried to click the "Click to retry" link as well as attempt to remove the app - without any success.  I went to the "Monitor" section and noticed 2 Install Errors, and here they are:

The remote hosting service is temporarily unavailable. 8/15/2012 6:33 AM 8a88e8af-df47-4e8f-89a2-3fec349cf918
There was an error during the operation. 8/15/2012 6:33 AM 8a88e8af-df47-4e8f-89a2-3fec349cf918

I have tried to deploy the same app to my colleague's Office 365 Preview site and it gets deployed successfully.  I checked the configuration and don't see any difference.  I have even tried to create a new Office 365 Preview account and still same error.

Can someone please shed some light...starts to get frustrated and there's not much information around...?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

I have tried out different things and I think there might be some problem with the Office 365 Preview site that gets created lately.

I have created 2 sites, one was created last week and one yesterday.  My colleague created his one last month.  Here's the test I have done:

    • My Colleague's PC deploy to his preview site: Works
    • My Colleague's PC deploy to my preview site:  Doesn't work
    • My PC deploy to his preview site: Works
    • My PC deploy to my preview site: Doesn't work
    • My second PC deploy to my preview site: Doesn't work

The above kinda proves that there might be some missing setting on my preview site - or the server that is hosting the newly created site has a problem????

Really appreciate if anyone can offer some help...I am running out of idea just to complete the very basic tutorial for SharePoint 2013....

    Thanks.

it's seems that cannot remove "dirty" app from O365 preview site, maybe MS need provider a way to do this.

I guess there have some issues occurred when you deploy the app first time, and left a "dirty" app in your site.

you can try rename you app and redeploy it.

I have asked my colleague to request another preview site, and he has the same problem.  However he doesn't have any problem with the old site that he requested last month.

Based on the different tests that I have tried, I think there could be two reasons:

1.) The site he requested last month was sitting on a server that works.  Any new sites that gets created recently are allocated on a sever that has "some" problem with the App deployment (certain services not running properly?).  Of course, these are my guess only as I have no insight with the "cloud"

2.) My colleague did something to his first site that got it working...but unlikely because my colleague pretty sure that he didn't do anything fancy, and the first app that he deployed was successful.

    Hello SharePoint Egg,

There might have been an intermitency with the auto-hosting service. If you are still encountering this issue one workaround woukd be to sign-up for a new developer site. To the best of our knowlege things should be working fine now.
