Trouble Installing Visual Studio 2008 C# Express on Windows 7

Question

I am in need of some help installing Visual Studios C# Express Edition on Windows 7 x86.  If anyone could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

You should be able to just go to http://www.microsoft.com/express/vcsharp/#webInstall, choose the language you want, and run the file it downloads.  You'll need rights on your system to do the installation.

There is no trick required to get Visual C# Express Edition (2008) to install on Windows 7.

It gets to the actual install of Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition with SP1-ENU and it will kick out an error and states the .exe file doesnt work.

Thank you for your post.

Firstly, please check whether you have turned on the windows feature of .NET Framework 3.0 and 3.5.
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Check the box next to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 and 3.5.

Secondly, use Verification Tool to verify .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. If .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 cannot be verified on your computer, you can try to follow the steps mentioned in the following blog to repair the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 on Windows 7.

If no avail, could you please try to use collect tool to collect the log files of Visual C# 2008 Express Edition from your "%temp%" folder?

You can upload your log files to SkyDrive and post the link back here.

Steps:
- Try to clean your "%temp%" folder (Start menu >> Run >> Type "%temp%")
- Install Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (The installer must be run with administrator privileges - Right click the installer >> Click "Run as administrator")
- Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder
- Upload vslogs.cab file
