Microsoft Visual c++ 2008 installation problems

I've been trying to install visual c++ 2008 on my computer for awhile now and everytime I do it fails. I have a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, with 4 MB ram, and 32 bit OS. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, and my graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX. The error I always recieve is error 1935. Here is a link to a picture of the error message I recieve:

SQL08 Express: Trouble Accessing After Initial Set Up

This is probably a typical issue, but I couldn't zero in on an existing solution quickly. So, sorry if this is well trod ground.

After an initial install on a physical 64-bit Windows 7 machine, I can't get the Management Studio to connect locally.

"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)"

I have tried:

* enabling TCP/IP connections
* enabling named pipe connections
* adding sql server (x64) and the browser (x86) to the firewall exception list
* installing Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 08

I am trying to connect with the sa account and password provided during installation.

Other odd condition:

* Can't start the SQL Server Agent. When I try to change the startup mode, I get "The remote procedure call failed."

What am I missing?

Problem starting the ASP.NET development server

I keep getting this error when I try to debug my web site.

"ASP.NET Development Server failed to start listening on port 1053, Error message: An invalid argument was supplied

Then I get "Unable to connect to Visual Studio's localhost Web Server". I have the application setup with the defaults, I tried changing the ports, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the application all to no avail. I was able to take my code and run it on another PC that I setup the same way and it ran fine. PLEASE HELP.

hi,

I'm having problems in debugging the program i make in - C# - C++ - Visual Basic.... 3 of them...

Sometimes the program doesn't do anything even when i click.... and it suddenly minimizes... and then it opens up.. and then i can click on the stuff there but still i can't debug,

I've tried repairing it but no luck... The same thing happens...

It worked properly like (guess) 2 weeks back.. and yea, last time i tried it last Friday, It worked perfectly then...

i DIDN'T have any problems while installation....

hello,

we are a school with 200+ virtual clients. the programming classes use the express editions of visual basic and visual web developer. the virtual clients are non-persistent, meaning that all user changes are cleared if the machine is restarted.

this means that every time a user starts his ide, the machine is "configured for the first use".

is there any way around this behaviour?

I've just downloaded and installed Visual C# Express on my Vista home premium laptop, I have an Administrator account. Once installation was complete I clicked to open the appliction and I got this message "The Application Data folder for Visual C# Express could not be created." I only have the option to click OK, there is no help and I cannot find anything to tell me how to resolve, can anyone help?

Project system components not installed

I have installed Visual Studie 2008 Express on my computer.

As soon as I want to open a new project I got the following message.

"The project system components are not installed on this computer. Please re-install Visual Components."

I've re-installed Visual Studio, but I still get the same message.

I can't seem to register Visual C++ express edition. I click register now, Web browser opens up and the green circle keeps spinning for over 45 min.

When starting VC++ 2008, a window "Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition Product Registration" opens.

The problem is that the link "Register Now" leads to the page "Registration Benefits" which is only an advertisement and doesn't in any way let me obtain a registration key to enter.

How do I complete the registration process? Reinstallation is, due to my lousy bandwidth, only a desperate last resort that will ruin the rest of my weekend.

Hi,

I installed visual web developer 2008 express edition on my HP w/ Vista Home Premium (I have 2 GB of ram and an Athloon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+, if any of
that matters. Never registered.

When I click on the start button, find the visual web developer 2008 express edition entry and click it, it brings up a window saying I need to register now. I click the
register button and brings me to the Microsoft visual web developer 2008 express edition website, where it basically sits with a gear rotating.

How long should I wait, or is something wrong?

VSE 2008 Crash after successful compile solved

Had a crash that took a while to figure out. Hopefully this will help someone else (since I could find nothing similar on the forums).

VSE would crash after a compile. After restarting, it was possible to run the program that had just been compiled (verified by seeing changes). Very annoying process : compile, crash, restart, run...

The cause, as usual, was a very simple one, read on...

Had this:

private String hoverLabel;

..... (bunch of code that is not applicable to this) .....

public
 String HoverLabel

 get { return HoverLabel; }
 set { hoverLabel = value; } 
}

Which caused the crashes. Finally figured out that there was a typo in the get statement: HoverLabel instead of hoverLabel on the return value in get. After fixing typo, a Build/clean is needed to clear the cache and stop the crashes.

Hopefully there will be some sort of check that can be added to prevent this sort of death spiral (get calling get calling get... until stack overflow). It never crashed in my program because I had not gotten to the point of reading this value back but it would crash the compiler even though it compiled a program that would run...

This is in VSE since that is what is here, but would probably apply to VS/C# in general

I've been trying to install VS 2008 express edition with SP1 all day and have yet to find an answer. The following error pops up:

Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.VCCodeModel, version="9.0.0.0", culture="neutral""'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8002802F.

I have been trying to fix it, but have no idea what is wrong. I'll post a history of my Computer

5. Uninstalled VS 2010 Beta

I read it could be because of a file named "mscoree.dll" but i've yet to understand whats wrong. Can anyone help me?

I installed Visual Web Develper 2008 express edition, sucessfuly on Vista home basic. Every feature is working, but when I click, Design/Split view buttons there is no response, and i can't view Design mode and current tab goes does not respond until I close it. Installation seems incomplete.

I've tried to install Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition with SP1 on my laptop with Windows XP Professional.
I download everything successfully and start installation. It goes fine up to the end, but I can't find the .exe file to run VB. I get only 2 .exe: DeleteTemp and Setup. During installation my anti-virus is off. What must be happening?

Gathering interest in having F# available as an Express Edition. Please chime in for or against.

It is a product that appears to have the most direct relevance to statisticians, scientists, financial and other types of data analysts in crunching data, data mining, etc. Would this be a correct characterization? If so, does that impact the tooling of a standalone, express edition?

Hi,

Using Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition for several months and build an application that still works,

but needed on some parts an apdate.

Starting the View Design editor, I got the following error.

There is no editor available for: C:\ ?.vb

Make sure the application for the file type .vb is installed.

There are more errors.

The properties window isn’t accessible and also

the application properties window.

Under

Tools/Options.

Windows Form Designer.

An error occurred loading this property page.

Under

Tools/ Import and Export Settings Wizard

The operation cold not completed.

Under

Tools/ A new item apeared Create GUID.

I've been attempting to register this for days now. Isn't it nice to know how well Microsoft watches over how its products perform? I need it for homework; otherwise, I would just give up on this Microsoft product. Anybody have any answers? Oh yes! Am using IE 7, and it is selected as my browser.

The "Express" website talks about both versions, but only links to the SQL Server Express 2008 download. If it is not part of the SQL Server Express 2008 download, where do I get it?

I have searched this forum for an answer to my question, before going into print.
Today (14 Feb 08) I d/loaded and installed Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition, from The Microsofts' Express site.
When attempting to Register the software, after having signed in using my net passport details and "loging in". I was presented with a blank web page.
The software details are as follows :-

Installed Edition: VB Express

C# Express Offline Download seems to be broken, is there another way of getting the ISO file?

Hi I've been attempting to download the offline install program for Visual Studio C# express edition. The page where it supposed to be available is : http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/offline.aspx and step one in the 3 simple steps instruction on that page reads as such

Installing Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions using .ISO files.

Download the image file (.ISO).
Use a tool for writing the file to recordable media such as DVD-R
Now simply insert the DVD created in the step above into your drive and double-click the setup.hta file to begin the installer.

but there is no link to the ISO file on the page ... the only links on the page lead you to various 'Trial Software' ISOs with a 90 day or so expiration not to the C# Express software ISO.

I've used various permutations of keywords agaisnt the search feature at microsoft.com to no avail. finally found a forum listing with this link from a 2007 post:

You could not find that file if you didn't know exactly where it was (in my case thanks to an old forum post). I'm hoping a forum admin or another Microsoft person see's this question and puts in a request to fix the VC# Express Edition OFFLINE Download site.

I see the message window with this text on my screen every time I try to open project in C# 2008 express. The same for new or any other project of any kind ;-). I tried to reinstall C# 2008 express few times, with the same result.

On property page in tools->options->Windows Form Designer I can see 'An error occurred loading this property page'

C++ 2008 express works fine.

Any idea???

We have Visual C++ 2008 Express installed on several Windows XP Prof machines but installation fails on one particular machine. I am installing from a DVD burned from the ISO image downloaded from Microsoft's Visual C++ 2008 Express web page.

I have:
- Validated the .NET libraries (.NET 3.5 SP1 is the latest installed)
- Reinstalled Windows Installer 4.5
- Disabled anti-virus protection
- Run collect.exe to collect the logs

The first lines of log dd_error_vc_xcor_90.txt read:

Error message "non-generic method" using ObjectDataSource and GridView

Here is my process: (all with visual web developer 2005 Express, April version.)

1. create new dataset in the app_code folder, called interaction.xsd. (right-click on the app_code directory and select new...)

a. Step through the TableAdapter Configuration Wizard.
b. Select the data connection (ManagementConnection String (Web.config)
c. Create new stored procedures
d. sql statement "SELECT Interaction.* FROM Interaction
e. new stored procedure names: InteractionSelect_sp, InteractionInsert_sp, InteractionUpdate_sp, InteractionDelete_sp
f. Fill method: FillInteraction, Get method: GetInteraction
g. Checked Create methods to send updates directly...
h. I now have Interaction.xsd.

2. Create new content page (code in separate file (Visual Basic) and uses master page), called Interaction.aspx.

3. In Design view, drag an ObjectDataSource onto the page.

a. (Configure Data Source) Selected InteractionTableAdapters.InteractionSelect_spTableAdapter.
b. Select method: GetInteraction(), return...
c. Update method: Update(Nullable<INT32> iFirmID, ... (Each field in the Interaction table is listed, as well as "Original_iInteractionID, Int32".)
d. Insert method: Insert(Nullable(int32> iFirmID,...(again, each field in the Interaction table is listed.)
e. Delete method: Delete(Int32 Original_iTransactionID), returns Int32

4. Drag a Gridview object onto the page.

a. Choose Data Source - ObjectDataSource1 selected.
b. Select "Enable Editing" and "Enable Deleting" also for the Gridview.

5. ctl-F5, select the page from the page navigation. Data is pulled from the database and is correct. Click on the Edit link, click on the Update link.

6. Get the non-generic method error.

I just downloaded visual C# express edition 2008,when I installed it the setup says "Suite Integration Toolkit Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." in a send/don't send format.

what is wrong? I'm running windows XP SP2

hi All

I am having problem burning the downloaded Visual Studio 2008 Express iso file onto DVD.

I downloaded Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Express and tried to burn the iso file onto DVD using Nero, and got this error from Nero:
"Sorry, your compilation cannot be written on this kind of disc. Please insert a disc of the correct type or modify the settings of your compilation to make it compatible with the current disc."

I am using Vista Home Premium edition. The strange thing is I could burn the full MSDN library iso file (not the express version) onto DVD on my machine.

Any advice?

recently i started to learn in high-school and im learning C# in class so i need the Visual C# Application installed on my PC.

im trying to install Visual C# 2008 Express Edition and get the following error :

yet it didnt help me that much...i've tried everything written there and i guess i just did something wrong or that this error can happen in multiple cases.

anyway all the info u need is write there in that thread except that im trying to install C# (yet i tried to install C++ too by accident and the same error happened there too).

i used the MSIINV application and i didnt find an application like he had there :

Can't register Microsoft C# Espress Edition

A friend of mine installed Microsoft C# Espress Edition on his machine. He used it a couple of times, and didn't register the product at that time. Now, a few months later, he wants to use the product, and gets prompted to register the product. He has tried going through the registration process a few times without luck. He gets a message that says something like "We are unable to process your request at this time, please try again....". I hope you have an idea for getting out of this situation catch 22.

Hi i am using windows ultimate (64bit version) on my pc but i am unable to install Microsoft Visual basic 2008 with SP1(new installation)

I tried registering Visual C# Experess edition, by clicking on the link.
I logged in using my Live account, and then I get the green circle, with an "error in page" indication.
The error is:

How to turn off ASP.NET Development Server

I am having trouble with running application under IIS and, therefore, would like to make my Visual Web Express edition run the application under IIS and not ASP.NET Development server. Is it possible to do that? how?

Bascially my application just reads data off Excel sheet and displays the data on web page. This does work under ASP.NET dev. server but when i try to use IIS (yes i have set it to run that applicaation under 2.0) it throws the following error:

Due to the fact that this doesn't happen under ASP.NET Dev. server and that i couldn't find any of the documentation on Microsoft's web site or anywhere else, i am just running out of options and would like to know if this is some known issue with any workaround... or is it simply that i am missing out some setting to run the exact same application under IIS 5 under WinXP (Both are on same machine, for now).
