- Hi Arya21,
Thank you for your post.
Some clarification with you:
Did you install it from HDD or CD/DVD media?
If it's the installer that you downloaded from official website, please try using some download manager software to download it again.
If you have installed any previous Visual Studio 2008 versions or service pack like RC or Beta, please uninstall any previous versions.
Please see: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/94f227ba-0e88-437f-936a-afffd5236b8c/

To install Visual Studio 2008, I would suggest you to temporarily turn off your anti-virus software and update your OS.
Hope this helps. If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback, please tell us. - I downloaded the installer from the official site without using any download manager, so I'll try to use your suggestion there.
I just formatted my PC so it is really empty, this problem first arose from the installer I backed up before formatting. At first I thought the file was also corrupted by virus so I downloaded from Microsoft's site but I still got the same issue
I'll be checking on those links, I'll let you know the result - Hi Arya21,
Look forward to your good news! :)

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback, please tell us. - Alright, here's the log of the result
Download VCSSetup using downthemall <-- download went well but the suite integration error still occurred
uninstall previous versions of visual studio <-- not necessary, I just formatted my laptop
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Vsexpressinstall/thread/8e6eb36b-1e70-4aee-9d1b-0a5caf93a77e/ <-- windows installer 3.1 is already on my laptop, .NET framework 2.0 installation is currently writing system registry values, a few moments after the process is completed it started rolling back and tell me that installation failed,no further information
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/938789d3-e126-4fe7-bdcf-e052c791f9b4/ <-- this link leads me here --> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/Vsexpressinstall/thread/7ed132bc-6dee-49cf-b61a-f4afb3fa81ae/ which the answer was to download winXP SP 2 and then running the setup again. But I can't install it on top of the winXP SP 2 build that I'm running on (which was kinda obvious really) so I don't know what to do
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/8eb5ae8e-8661-4bb6-9768-60eb9c17c815 <-- this solution was to uninstall the XP (which I already did, before posting on this forum) and then install winXP SP 1 and then install the SP 2 upgrade, now I don't see how can this works and should I do it or not. Sure there are sites provide SP 1 download but i'm not sure that is the installation ISO and not the update (although I lean towards the update) and I currently don't have the SP 1 ISO,so... it's kinda risky to do this (or else I'll just have to purchase the XP SP 1 mountable disk from MS)
here goes the fourth link http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/Vsexpressinstall/thread/7ed132bc-6dee-49cf-b61a-f4afb3fa81ae/ which turned out to be the link referenced by the second link
and then I disabled Avira before continuing installation, but the same suite integration toolkit executable problem popped up again.
updating the computer <-- it's already auto updated, should I manual update it? (where's the 'update now' button I wonder?). There are update files on MS site but I don't know which update is useful for this error (since each update seems to be dealing with spesific issue)
One more thing, when going through the forum I stumbled upon a thread that suggests me to use Collect.exe, and then upload the CAB file for further information, so here it is: http://cid-bfcb8313572ff940.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/vslogs.cab
I guess that's it, I'm waiting for your good news. :D - Hi Arya21,
Thank you for your reply.
I downloaded and looked into the log files and found some evidence about the installation failure of .NET Framework 2.0 as the following:
Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 -- Installation failed.
Could you please help me try Cleanup Tool to remove .NET Framework 3.5 >> 3.0 >> 2.0 in order?
Then run the installer of Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Or manually download and install .NET Framework 3.5 separately >> install Visual C# 2008 Express Edition.
If any problem occurs during the installation, please collect the log files again with the following step:
- Try to clean your "%temp%" folder
- Install .NET Framework 3.5
- Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder
- Upload vslogs.cab file
Hope this helps. If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Yichun Chen

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback, please tell us. - wow, just two days absent and the type has changed, oh well it doesn't matter anyway I'm replying now
let me tell you what I've done,
I've cleaned up the frameworks in the order you mentioned above and then manually download .NET framework 3.5, however during installation process the same suite integration error occurred once more
then I cleaned the temp folder using disk clean up, and repeat the framework installation progress again and after that I collect it into vslogs.cab and upload it here: http://cid-bfcb8313572ff940.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/vslogs.cab
well, that's the concern
I'm hoping to hear your solution Mr. Chen
thanks in advance
*now I'm gonna change the issue type* - Hi Arya21,
Thank you for your reply.
I've looked into the log files but cannot find any error message inside.
For error "Suite Integration Toolkit Executable", that's a very generic message it's giving you. Frankly speaking, it might be hard to know what exactly happened.
However, you may still get more information on what happened by checking your event viewer:
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer hen check out error events in your application under the system and security. It might shed some light on what's going on during the installation.
Hope this helps. :)
Best regards,
Yichun Chen

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback, please tell us. - Hi Chen,
I've looked at the system under event viewer and it appears to me that all that is recorded on 10/14 are all errors. There are two sources of error, DCOM and SideBySide. All of the categories refer to 'none', the events logged are 10010 for DCOM and 59 and 32 for SideBySide. There are two users, Yadhiek (which is me) for 10010 DCOM error and n/a for the rest.
The event of errors happened on 10/14 from top to bottom are as follows
10010
59
59
32
10010
59
59
32
Beside errors there is also information event, information source is service control manager with the event of 7036 caused by user N/A and 7035 caused by the user system. There is one 7035 event caused by me that day
As I follow down the list I noticed one other error, this one is different from the errors above. This error source is software update services client with the category of software sync, event of 148 and the user N/A
There is one warning there too, the source is W32Time, category is none, the event is 36 and user N/A
There is also one error from the source disk, the category is none and the event is 11 from user N/A
There are two more errors sourced from software update services client from the category software sync with the event of 148, the user is N/A
there is one other error from disk source which is the same with the one I mentioned above
and then there are two errors with the same source of service control manager both category are none but one event is 7022 and the other is 7000
one other error is below it, the source is software update services client from the category software sync and the event 148
there are also two errors from W32Time, their categories are none but one of the event is 29 and the other is 17
and here is the last error of 10/14, the source is from software update services client, with category software sync and event 148
well that's it, I hope you can make something out of it Chen (which I don't understand at all)
thanks - Hi Arya21,
Thank you for your reply.
Based on your description, it seems that you can find many errors recorded on 10/14.
We need to track the time stamp when the error occur during the installation to narrow down the possible cause.
Could you please run the installer again? Remember the time when the error appear >> go to "Event Viewer" >> check "Application" >> check "Time" column according to the time that you remember.
Time stamp in the event viewer can be helpful to diagnose the problem, you can see what happened in order during the installation and what occurred just before the error or exception arose.
Best regards,
Yichun Chen

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback, please tell us. - yeah, the errors on 10/14 was a LOT it took time to wrote them all
I just ran the installer again, and here's the error under "application" today on 9:07 PM:
type: error
source: application error
category: none
event: 1000
user: N/A
the previous error before this one was on 7:04 PM today
there was one error under "system" but it occurred on 8:43 PM today so I don't think it has anything to do with the installer
what happen on 9:07 was two informations, it wasn't an error
well, that's it for the error Chen. I hope you can figure something out of it - Hi Arya21,
Thank you for your reply.
Do you mean that you cannot find any error message under "Application" instead of "System" when you installed Visual C# 2008 Express?
If you can find any clue under "Application", please copy the whole log and paste it here. :)
Best regards,
Yichun Chen
