    Hello,

For registration problems on Visual Studio Express Editions, you could refer to Registration FAQ on this webpage.

Besides, please make sure you have direct access to Internet to avoid some network problems during registration process.

Also, you could try offline installation of Visual Studio Express Editions.   You know we don’t need to register the products if we install with offline installation of Visual Studio Express Editions.   For additional information, please refer to this webpage.

            Thanks,

    Best Regards,
    Lingzhi

I tried everything in the FAQ, including setting IE as my default browser, and I don't see offline installation as an option that makes any sense, as the software is already installed.  This qualifies as a horrible user experience so far.

Can someone divine anything from the url I was instructed to post?

I've encountered the same problem and judging by the number of posts in this forum, apparently so have a number of others. Interestingly enough, I don't have a clear, workable resolution from Microsoft.
