Why can't I find it in MSDN help (say that comes with VS.NET)?Greetings,

I am not sure if this forum is for searching within the forums or also for searching MSDN help (say that comes with VS.NET). If this is the wrong forum, please either tell me which forum is correct or repost it to that forum.

My biggest frustration with trying to get help from MSDN is that I can't find what I want. This applies to the help within VS.NET as well as on the forums. I often end up using Google to find the answer, which should not be the case. I often find that I know what I want, but can't figure out how to phrase it so I can find it in MSDN help.

It would be nice to be able to specify a command that is available in other programming languages and to then be able to find the cooresponding command in a specified MS programming language. And when there are more than one approach, info on which is more desirable (especially for VB commands where some are in just for legacy purposes.)

It would be nice to be able to filter on the result set rather than trying to figure out how to edit the original search.

Even when I tell VS.NET Help to limit the results to some criteria, it often includes results that include criteria I requested not be included.

It might be nice to be able to specify that I am looking for something in particular - a function, a code sample, an explanation of a process, etc.

Why can't I open multiple tabs in VS.NET when I click on a link? I end up opening IE, copying the link there, and then proceeding from there.... Especially since many of the help links are so short that I have to jump all over to find something of value.

Finally, what about having a tips and tricks forum where people can post cool things they have found, etc.?

Thanks for letting me vent,

FletcherJ
© 2009 Microsoft Corporation.
