- Hello Scott,
Are you refering to the step by step guide version 1.4 by Nick Pierson? Or is there a newer guide for beta 2?
I cannot find an up to date guide for beta 2.
Can you post the link to the guide of which you are posting the URL's above?
Thank you,
Danny Alvares, Technical Solutions Architect IAM
EDIT: never mind, the SBS you refer to deals with SharePoint scenarios and the available VM's:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=57602615-e1ee-4775-8b79-367b7007e178
The SBS I am referring to came with beta 1 but is not updated for beta 2, which leads to some difficulty trying to work the steps out.... - Scott,
Can you give this another try and let us know if this is still an issue?
Danny,
There are two new guides posted up on http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=57602615-e1ee-4775-8b79-367b7007e178&hash=00G%2bej6TToJ4TBiu8Ze3a8T6xBbrME5pUOYmJ5jkroOOORCDENtGL%2fN1fCI%2bwDy1w4wLavIR20xdtkj1Tiy%2f9g%3d%3d.
The main one that works with the VM images that are also located on this same page is named GenevaServerFederatedCollaboration-SBS-Guide.pdf and is written by Brad Mahugh. The other guide mentioned on that page is a How To guide for setting up Geneva Server with MS Online Services.
Thanks,
Nick Pierson
Geneva Technical Writer - Ok, the base.zip download on that page is still broken for me.It resolves to:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&p=1&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=57602615-e1ee-4775-8b79-367b7007e178&u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fF%2fF%2fE%2fFFEEAD92-DA3E-49E4-B5E8-C84CEC38218B%2fBase.zip
- Me too. I'm not able to download the files above. I get a timeout or the files are only 0kB. What's going on here? Thanks.
The .zip file you are trying to download is pretty big, I believe in the magnitude of 6-8GB, after all it contains a set of virtual machines. Most browsers cap the size of the file you are allowed to download and thus would block you form downloading such a big file. I would recommend installing and using IE8 since it does not cap the size of the files you are allowed to download.

- Update: I am working with other "Geneva" team members to post a new version of the SBS Guide that will have the scripts used for configuring the SharePoint federated partnership. Currently, these are only available in the VMs if you download them.
- Veneta is correct - base.zip exceeds the max download size for any browser other than IE8. Ideally this will be re-released so that it is downloadable via the File Transfer Manager applet, but for now find a box with IE8 on it and you'll be fine.
Laura Hunter - Directory Services MVP Identity Architect - Oxford Computer Group ILM2 & Identity Training, Upcoming Dates - http://www.oxfordcomputergroup.com/course-dates.aspx - Brad - any news on releasing the script for sharepoint federation separately from the VMs?
We've tried MANY times (IE8/7/firefox/opera over T1 and ADSL) to download the VMs but it never succeeds. We've also asked Microsoft in NZ but they don't seem to be able to provide it either.
Thanks,
Graham Did anyone get an answer back regarding getting the Geneva SharePoint scripts unbundled from the SbS VMs?
Thanks
Stef P- The guide (GenevaServerFederatedCollaboration-SBS-Guide.pdf) has the script specified in it at the end.
- I've been trying to download base.zip for several days now. I'm using IE 8 on Vista. The download seems to complete, but I only get about half the file (3.97 GB or 4171153 KB). This has happened twice now, and the file is exactly the same size. Am I missing an IE 8 setting somewhere that is limiting the donwload size? Has this ever been set up in download manager?
Thanks
