    Have you considered that the 5 feet might represent the distance between the wheels' ground contact point and the aircraft model's reference datum?

    This is one of the possibility, was therefore asking to ensure that it wasn't a mistake on the way that i retrieve the altitude before making conclusions.

    that is exactly what is going on. You'll need to request this information from your 3d modeler who will tell you the exact distance.

    Also, keep in mind there's a strut compression factor at play here, so the distance reported will vary depending on compression - that can also be calculated with the strut animation frame if you're given strut compression distance info from your 3d modeler.
