Importing from DataMarket is supported in Tableau Public 5.2 and later. You can download the latest Tableau Public release from
here.
If you enter your account key incorrectly, you will get the following error message in Tableau Public: "Authentication Failed. Please make sure that you provide valid credentials."
An incorrect account key message could be caused by several issues.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to follow:
-
Make sure you are copying the whole account key from the
Account Keys page without any extra spaces or text around it.
-
Make sure you are subscribed to the dataset you are trying to import.
It should be displayed on the
My Data page with a status of Active.
-
If you have both a CTP3 “Dallas” account and a production DataMarket account, make sure you are using the appropriate account key.
If you began the import by clicking on the "Open" button from the DataMarket Service Explorer, use your
DataMarket account key.
If you began the import by entering a DataMarket OData URL in the Tableau Public Connect to Data dialog, the account key you should use depends on the URL you entered.
If the URL begins with https://api.datamarket.azure.com, use your
DataMarket account key.
If the URL begins with https://api.sqlazureservices.com, use your
CTP3 “Dallas” account key.
